Attn: Bears, Cubs and White Sox,

Take notes! McDonough is the man!

Amazing what he has done already for the Hawks and what his plans for the future are. Dynasty!

There are alot of Hawk fans that don't like him for some reason.

Anyone else here feel the same or not?

I don't know why people would hate him, he was a big part in turning this team around

I don't understand people hating him. The guy is a business man and he's a very good one. You can't argue with success.

I wouldn't say he was a big part in turning the team around though. That honor goes to great drafting and trading along with Rocky's immediate desire to change the franchise.

There are a lot of fans who despise and resent him for the firing of Tallon. He did kinda walk into a gold mine, though....and quite a few changes he made were no-brainers in terms of bringing some fans "back."

While I have posted it a number of times, and in many places -and I stand by what I have posted ... a red carpet walk to the dressing room, and some of the things are a little much for me.

I would rather have him than Pulford. I will qualify it with that.

I give Rocky Wirtz all of the credit; and note it is a big thing for some people to assume the helm of a family business and be hesitant to change due to some preceived (and imo not real) lack of family loyalty.

___

Edited to add: I will note that prior to a couple of seasons ago, the teams McDonough was part of, hadn't won anything despite all of the gimmicks to "bring back fans". The Cubs now have a tradition of losing and filling Wrigley; but I do realize as a business guy, that part of the organizations are not his jurisdiction -my point being "bringing back fans" was not a substitute for what goes on the ice; there is a philosophy that what goes on at the rink (or field if you want) brings in fans on their own without need for the cheesecake show (admittedly before McDonough came aboard), the need for some clown to dress up and be called a mascot, etc...

What I think it does do, is create a horde of fickle fans that give an enormous short-term boost, but in the end -end up knowing jack-all about the actual sport of hockey.

Could not agree more.
