I get your point. I'm looking at the play and if there was separation on the route, that ball was there. Keep this in mind, a Qb doesn't need Vick-Elway arm strength on WCO timing routes. The routes were so bad, I can't tell if it was a post or a slant.
The route is irrelevant. Look at his delivery. Newton has to use everything he has to get the ball where he wants it. In 2017 it was just a flick of the wrist. Cam can no longer drive the ball unless he can use all of his lower body strength. If he’s not able to fully step into his throws, which happens often for qb’s, the ball floats on him.
