I've been thinking about this. The Best record in the NBA, with the MVP this season. The Bulls also have key role players like Deng, Noah, Boozer, Gibson, Korver...

Can we build a dynasty?

Thoughts..

They've already built it...just gotta keep others, and of equal importance people on the inside, from tearing it down. We have a hell of an emperor in Thibs, and the greatest Warrior in all of the Great Midwest.

I'm with X on this one, I think we have one, it's just short of a player or 2.

Rose is the MVP, best PG in the league and arguably a top 5 player. Scariest thing is that he hasn't yet peaked, not even close. I think we're still two seasons away from seeing a full bloomed Rose. I think we have good surrounding talent but Boozer is aging and declining. Noah needs to stay healthy. But getting a legit SG is a must. I think the bulls should take a long look at Jason Richardson this off-season. He's older but he can nail the 3 and still can hop.

But I guess you can't be a dynasty until youve won multiple titles and we haven't won one yet. And problem is that I feel Miami and NY will have a bunch of guys drooling to play with their cores. I do think the bulls are very desirable as well and winning a title could only strengthen that appeal for FAs.

Now if we can somehow manage to trade for Howard... The Bulls could end up dominating the NBA the next decade worse than the bulls did in the 90s.

So I guess we have many of the pieces of a dynasty, just no results yet.

Not with this roster. And the main reason is Boozer isn't good enough. Let's concentrate on getting out of the second round before getting excited about a dynasty.

Ric Bucher ""I would expect a Dwight trade this summer or before the next season starts, from what I'm hearing," he wrote in his Friday chat.

The Nets, in an effort to keep Deron Williams around, have been listed as an interested party.

There's also been a growing suggestion that Chicago -- who could offer a nice consolation prize back in Joakim Noah -- could potentially make sense as a destination for Howard."

It was a tough, tough choice to favor them against the Lakers. But I guess we'll see. I think the teams with the best chance at a title this year are OKC, LA, and BOS (with CHI not too far on the outside looking in). But we'll see.

I predicted a Thunder-Bulls Finals before the season. They would be a great series.

No, I don't think we have a dynasty. We are a decent showing in the playoffs from changing labels(from contenders to elite), but we would need to show improvement next year over the REST of the league.

We may have the #1 seed now, but the landscape will be different after free agency this year. Therefore we have no dynasty if another team puts a few pieces into place that can combat our potentially improved team.

Also, I don't remember a dynasty ever having only 1 All-Star. I do think we had a case for guys to be all-stars, but until it's crystal clear to the entire league that we have multiple all-stars, and we are actually winning championships with them, you can't acknowledge a team as a dynasty.

A dynasty label is very premature. Just enjoy what we have now and lets all hope it continues to get better!

Get Dwight Howard and yes.

Howard's a great player but Im a little worried it would mess with chemistry. And since Howard loves the camera so much, Id be concerned that he would try to be the face of the team. I know the reaction is going to be along the lines of, "I dont care...when you have a chance to get Howard, you do it", and I dont necessarily disagree but I worry about the dynamic of the overall team if that happens. Howard is one guy I think you could justifiably trade someone like Noah or Asik for, but even then, Id want to give it some thought.

But truthfully, Id really hope that the Orlando Magic would take Boozer and Asik. I think Noah compliments both Howard and Rose as a PF. Noah is one of the most productive players without needing to score. He can pass and run and I think it would be a nice front court to have Howard at C and Noah at PF. I also think that, in the long run, Boozer might reach decline sooner because he lacks length.

More to the OP, Id be concerned about Deng staying healthy on a year in-year out basis. Again, Id worry about a decline from Boozer before his contract expires.

Some were predicting a Blackhawks dynasty last year. Look what happened. Granted the NBA's cap isn't as hard as the NHL's but free agency plays a big part in dynasties.

As much as I like Howard, I just don't think he would mesh well here. I like the chemistry we have with Noah and I love his energy and passion. He may not be as dominant of a player or scorer as Howard, but his heart is irreplaceable. If any player could be dealt, I wouldn't feel bad about letting go of Boozer. His d is very suspect and he's injury-prone, which can be a dynasty killer.

All that said, let's focus on this year first. If things go favorably, let's talk dynasty this summer. :)

There should be zero hesitation on this. You take Howard over Noah 100 times out of 100. There are things Noah can provide that Howard doesn't, but that doesn't come close to outweighing the plethora of abilities Howard possesses that nobody else currently in the league has. And keep in mind Noah has been hit with a significant injury each of the last two seasons. Howard has only missed seven games in his seven year career. He'd also take much of the offensive pressure off of Rose which would make the Bulls considerably harder to defend, especially in crunch time.

The biggest mistake a team can make is falling in love with their players to the point where they perceive those players' value to be so much higher than the rest of the league does. There isn't another team that would take Noah over Howard. That a non-zero chance exists that Noah (plus some picks/small pieces) can net Howard should have you excited, not worried that "Howard might ruin the chemistry."

I never said not to take Howard. I just question if he could be a team player alongside another all-star like Derrick Rose.

This is what we were talking about with the Blackhawks a year ago. Then salary cap kicked in. Not sure how much the Bulls are pressed by salary cap or if it has as big a toll in the NBA than in the NHL, but I wouldn't feel comfortable saying yes.
