Can the Bulls get the overall best record?

They are currently 3 games behind the Spurs and the Spurs have more games against +.500 teams than the Bulls.

What do you think?

I personally don't think they can catch them, but then I wasn't expecting the Bulls to be in this position either.

Update: It might be possible. Manu got hurt today and Duncan seems to be hurt too.

It all depends. The Spurs are prolly gona start benching their vets in preparation for the playoffs. And with the injuries as of now. I can see it then.

I doubt it. They know if they let off the gas, before long, LA will be breathing down their necks. And the Spurs are actually the only team with a better home court record than the Bulls. But it also depends on injuries. If Duncan and Ginobli are both out, all bets are off.

Yeah, I think they might want to rest their starters.

You also have to consider that the Bulls play the Celtics and some scrubs. If they beat the Celtics and have a 3 game lead on them and the Heat, whom they have tie-breakers with, they might rest starters in their final 2-3 games.

It is really hard to say if they can catch the Duncan-less Spurs.

They can do it, but I doubt they will. Like some have stated. The Bulls will also look to rest some of their players and continue to work on some of the bench players.

We still need to give Butler a fair shot in a few of these garbage games. Since he is playoff eligible, I bet a lot of people want to see what he can do. Not so much because we want to invest in him, but because we need to know what to expect, in the odd situation where we might need his minutes and fouls.

I'd like to see us ease up when/if the number 1 seed is in the bag.

I don't think they can.

If the Bulls finish out 8-2 (which I think they have a very good chance of doing) to finish 61-21 the Spurs would have to go 3-6 to finish 60-22. If The Bulls get within a game or so of the Spurs, they (the Spurs) will go all out to win games and not rest starters. Now if the Bulls go 10-0, beating the Celtics at home and the Magic on the road, then the Spurs would only have to go 5-4 or worse.

The good news is that the Spurs probably won't win the Western Conference Finals, so as long as the Bulls stay ahead of the Lakers (and everyone else), they should have home court advantage throughout.

Honestly, i dont think it matters very much because the Lakers are going to win the west again.

The Bulls could catch them, i wouldnt put my money on it though. The injuries to Duncan and Manu definitely hurt them though. I think the Spurs have lost 3 straight.

I thinks its more important to stay ahead of the Lakers and everyone in the East. I love out late game defense and all but the way we've been starting out games scares me. In bumps and bruises to Deng, Taj, Jo and the gang scare me too.

I agree. I think they can, but they probably wont.

Ever since the talk about MVP and those 2 blowout games, we've been sluggish and although the Celtics are slumping, they will be a force come playoff time. And the Heat, slowly riding our tails with the easiest schedule of the three teams will also be a force. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if either team goes all the way.

With the games left to play, I think it's more a question of how close the Heat get to us in the seeding. Number 1 seed will make things SO much easier on our playoff run.

I don't take the Spurs very seriously either as title contenders.

But don't sleep on the Oklahoma City Thunder man. I like the addition of Kendrick Perkins. That is a team that gave the Lakers trouble last year (the only other team to do so besides BOS) and I expect them to do it again.
