In 2014, Cutler will earn a base salary of $22.5 million. In 2015, the base salary is $15.5 million. In 2016, it increases to $16 million.

This is the crux of the deal. The way I read this is that Cutler will only have a salary, there is not signing bonus to pro-rate. So those numbers above are his cap hit. While 2014 is a big number, look at how it drops in year two. I do not think it is coincidental that Bmarsh will be a FA in 2015, just when the Cutler deal drops $7M.

And for all those complaining about this being too long of a deal, it is realistically a three year deal, if the Bears choose so. After year three, Bears can cut Cutler with no dead cap ramifications.

Other than the high 2014 cap hit, this is a great deal for Bears. and I am sure Jay does not mind an extra $54M.

I'm not sure if the exact cap hit but it's reported that Jennings got $12 mil guaranteed and somewhere close to $5 mil per.
