Bravo.
It's too bad there are not a lot of top tier guys coming out as FA's this year.
Bears have 100 -125MM available and could easily get 25MM more by cutting
Whitehair, Patrick,Muhammed and Siemion without missing anything.
Sure wish there were more guys that have shown they can produce, are younger
and without a lot of injury history. We could reload in a hurry.
Looks like free agency could be used to sign some decent players to fill out this team's depleted roster. The difference makers will have to come out of the draft.

For what he's scheduled to get paid next year, he's the 5th highest paid OG in the league. 100K less than Joel Bitonio, who has an elite 87.8 PFF grade. Paying him more than Zach Martin. You need a lot more than adequate for that much money.
So, just clarify, are you saying we get the amount he’s paid to find someone else?

No?

Yeah, so, we would cut a dude without a dude to replace him to spend more money on a dude? Nah. The only two holes left are RT & C, and we may be good at RT.

We have two rookies who may phase out Whitehair. Maybe we can trade him for a salary dump? We eat some of his, pick up a guy who’s better but has a crazy high salary and we call it a win. We have the cap. It’s the only scenario I can think of to drop Whitehair.

Are you drunk? I'm not sure what any of this means.

I think our GM wants to build his O-Line and anyone that wasn’t drafted by him will be expendable. Jenkins is the only O-lineman without Poles ties that I see on this roster next season.

But you're only saving $5mil cutting him. That's his actual value when deciding whether to keep him or not. Is he worth $5mil, to me that's the question? I'd say he is until you find someone whose definitely better in FA or draft.
Who is saying to cut him before you find his replacement ?!? Wtf

You would like to think that the player's ability and potential matter more than a rookie GM's ego.

I've had this discussion already with @rawdawg . He always said to cut him. And it doesn't matter when. You leave a hole and has to replace him. Before or after draft.

I just want to keep him. Pay him much more as he earned. Because of lack in quality this FA, I believe we will safe money to carry over in 2024. And paying whitehair means nothing else as not to spend sooooo much money for minimum salary.

If he didn't have an ego, which players with ability and potential would he have kept?

Maybe instead of cutting one of our best OL players, he would agree to a slight salary reduction instead?? Players do it all the time.

Yeah, that's me also. Why cut a guy who is doing a decent job at multiple positions through his career?
