My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Nebraska Cornhuskers
  2. Villanova Wildcats
Over the past week, randomly, my alarm will go off while it's in my driveway. Nobody is near it, nobody is touching it, it just goes off. Could anyone have a possible idea of what could be going on?

-Corrosion/pest chewing something which causes a short
-Sensitivity setting needs to be adjusted or reset
-TPMS or Door sensors/switches giving false reading. This includes hood and trunk latches.
-Fuse/battery

any of the above seem likely.

off the beaten trail, have you let your key fob get rained on, set down in water, or worse yet go through the laundry?

My lady was doing laundry and I left the keys to my car in the pocket- the alarm kept going off as it was washed. Thought that was the end of it, but residual moisture remained in there and would occasionally short the panic button and set the alarm off.

..probably not your issue, but just wanted to throw it out there.

This is the most likely issue. Try using the actual lock button in the car, instead of the lock button on the keypad until you get it resolved.

Sometimes it's as simple as unhooking your battery and hooking it back up and it will reset the alarm. Could be as bad as just being defective though

Depending on the make it could also be the sensor in the steering column that picks up the proximity signal from your key fob going bad. This happens quite a bit in cars that have built in "keyless" ignition. I had to have the entire column replaced once due to this (because having the sensor/comp. associated with that being a separate module would just be too easy...).

Funny this should come up today - I was at a restaurant last night and in the parking lot, someone's car kept locking and unlocking (you could hear the little horn noise it makes) over and over again every few seconds. We came to the conclusion that someone must have been sitting on their keys.
