1. LeBron James will finish his career in ______ place in the NBA All-Time points scored list.

At the moment he has 17,249 points (at only 26, he has already passed the likes of Chris Webber, Bob Cousy, Joe Dumars and James Worthy).

2. True or False: Steve Nash will surpass Magic Johnson on the All-Time assists list before he retires.

3. Kobe Bryant will retire with _______ championships.

4. Presently with 27,705 points, Kobe Bryant will finish in _________ place in the NBA All-Time points scored list and will finish with _________ points.

I found the following very interesting...

This is Kobe's 15th season.

Michael Jordan played in 15 different NBA seasons, the same amount as Kobe has so far in his career.

Kobe has already played in more games than Jordan (1097-1072) and counting.

Here's what the cold hard objective facts tell us (and keep in mind, this is even counting those 2 years when Jordan only played 17 games due to an injury and only 18 for his first comeback).

Games Played
Jordan: 1072
Kobe: 1097
Advantage: Kobe Bryant

In 15 seasons (so far)...

POINTS

Jordan: 32,292
Kobe: 27,705
Advantage Jordan (4587 more points)

ASSISTS
Jordan: 5633
Kobe: 5129
Advantage Jordan (504 more assists)

REBOUNDS
Jordan: 6672
Kobe: 5803
Advantage Jordan (869 more rebounds)

BLOCKS
Jordan: 893
Kobe: 574
Advantage Jordan (319 more blocks)

STEALS
Jordan: 2514
Kobe: 1645
Advantage Jordan (869 more steals)

MVP Awards
Jordan: 5
Kobe: 1
Advantage Jordan (4, count em 4 more)

Playoff Averages

Games Played
Jordan: 179
Kobe: 198
Advantage Kobe Bryant

Points
Jordan: 33.4 PPG
Kobe: 25.5 PPG
Advantage Jordan

Rebounds
Jordan: 6.4 RPG
Kobe: 5.2 RPG
Advantage Jordan

Assists
Jordan: 5.7 APG
Kobe: 4.8 APG
Advantage Jordan

Steals
Jordan: 2.1 SPG
Kobe: 1.4 SPG
Advantage Jordan

Finals record as the main scoring option on team
Jordan: 6-0
Kobe: 2-2
Advantage: Jordan (4 more titles as a main man of team, never lost like Kobe has twice)

Even with 2 seasons of less than 20 games played, in as many seasons, Jordan's numbers are still superior to Kobe's.

Why exactly do people say Kobe is better than Jordan? If he was equal to Jordan or better than him, wouldn't we be seeing at least 1 statistical "ADVANTAGE KOBE?"

The only place Kobe surpasses Jordan is in games played.

Let the record show that anything Kobe does from here on out will be in more games played than Jordan.

1. LeBron James will finish his career in 2nd place in the NBA All-Time points scored list.

Supposing he stays healthy, LeBron is way too high on the scoring list at such a young age, I think he can climb Mt. Malone but not Mt. Kareem.

2. True or False: Steve Nash will surpass Magic Johnson on the All-Time assists list before he retires. TRUE. Has anyone noticed that Nash presently has almost identical numbers as he did when he was the MVP 6 years ago and that he's leading the league in assists at 37 years old!? Amazing.

3. Kobe Bryant will retire with 6 championships.

4. Presently with 27,705 points, Kobe Bryant will finish in 3rd place in the NBA All-Time points scored list and will finish with 32,500 points.

All he needs is 3 more seasons of at least 1,529 points in each one to do it. He will get there.

Here are some other facts:

Shooting Percentage
Jordan: 50%
Kobe: 45%
Advantage Jordan (5% better)

Shooting Percentage in Playoffs
Jordan: 49%
Kobe: 45%
Advantage Jordan (4% better)

Finals MVP
Jordan: 6
Kobe: 2
Advantage Jordan (4 more - again I stress, Jordan didn't have the luxury of having the premier center in the league his rookie year going into his first several years. Kobe won those titles on Shaq's back).

Scoring Crowns

Jordan: 10
Kobe: 2
Advantage Jordan (8, count em 8 more scoring titles! Jordan almost loops Kobe on this category too. LET ME SAY IT AGAIN - HOW CAN ANYONE SAY KOBE COMPARES TO JORDAN OR IS BETTER THAN HIM? 10-2!))

Consecutive Scoring Titles
Jordan: 7
Kobe: 2
Advantage Jordan (how can Kobe be "just as good" when he only dominated the scoring in the league twice in 15 years?)

Bear in mind too - Jordan's numbers are this superior, not only two of those years being a 17 game season and an 18 game season for him, but he also did it against the Dream Team generation, nowhere near the degree of legends the league has now (if you disagree with me, name me all the great centers...after about 2 guys you start naming Chris Kaman - it doesn't work).

While a great player, Kobe cannot even sniff Michael Jordan.

People subjectively see the guy whose playing now and they forget that he needed Shaq MAIN MANNING those early Lakers title teams and the [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0KJvlSUB-w"]officials[/ame] on 02 and that as a main man, Kobe is just 2-2 in the Finals. Jordan was too great to lose a Finals).

Very interresting list. I just thought about one thing:

You can´t really get an advantage for Playoff games played. Sure playing more games means more experience but sweeping a team in 4 games is better than beating one in seven games. Just my two cents. :)

That's a good point I had not considered before.

So really, Kobe hasn't surpassed Jordan in ANYTHING significant after 15 years. In rebounds, steals, and scoring titles, Jordan almost doubles up on Kobe!

Doubles up!

If LeBron plays long enough, I think he can pass Kareem on the all-time points list. He got such a good head start averaging about 20 points as an 18 year old. But then again, playing with Wade and Bosh, he might not average 30ppg in a season again.

Why are you so emo lately? Seriously dude, I hope you're okay.

...And yes, I care. I don't base my life on it, but a small part of me does care.

Kobe Bryant honestly has not hadvery many games in the Finals where he has actually played well.

There are only a few, really.

Game 6- 2000 (@IND)
Game 1- 2004 (vs. DET)
Game 5- 2010 (@BOS)

There are many more terrible shooting games to point at in Kobe's 7 Finals appearances than decent ones.

I'm fine. As a matter of fact, I couldn't be better. I just look at a good number of threads on this board, and I wonder why people decide to worry about the small things. Whether or not Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, or any future 'next big superstar' surpass Jordan in whatever statistical category it may be doesn't mean they are at all better than Jordan.

Sorry, but I'm not going to care if Kobe passes Jordan up in anything, regardless of how many games either of them play. Not going to change the fact that I think Jordan was still the greatest of all time.

If Jordan doesn't go down as the mostly widely recognized "greatest of all-time," I can tell you something for sure. That player will not be LeBron James or Kobe Bryant.

I take you as a "Let's find the bad in everything and be as negative as I can possibly be" kind of guy, am I right?

Posting these numbers does not mean I'm "worried" about anything.

I just found it interesting to hear many people still insisting that Kobe is equal to Jordan. Now I COULD drone on and on with my opinions, but that isn't going to give us any proof to go with.

Cold, hard objective facts will, however.

That's all.

If you don't like it, that's fine. Doesn't mean it's a waste of everyone's time just because you deemed it a waste of yours.

I learned something by this experiment and knowing it pisses you off, it makes me want to do it again.

And again.

And again.

Except for the part about me saying that I already know Jordan is the greatest.

No, it's meant to justify you already (correct) notion that Kobe will never be what Jordan is. Why you feel you need to justify that on a Chicago based sports message board is beyond me.

I'll totally forget about Michael Jordan once Kobe surpasses Jordan in statistical categories that even Jordan himself isn't the career leader.
