The Padres have Carlos Quentin "on their list of possibilities" for an offseason trade, reports Bill Center of the San Diego Union-Tribune. It seems like a good match, given that the White Sox are thought to have Quentin on the market and the Padres are looking for a corner outfielder. Center mentions elsewhere in his chat with readers that given the Padres' difficulty in luring free agent hitters to Petco Park, a trade would be the club's best chance to add that desired corner outfield help.

Quentin has posted a .257/.352/.505 line over the last four seasons in Chicago, though it remains to be seen how his bat and his glove (a career UZR/150 of -9.3, though this metric also shows Quentin was an above-average defensive right fielder in 2011) would play in spacious Petco Park. If Quentin was acquired, he and Cameron Maybin would play every day, with Center including Chris Denorfia, Jesus Guzman, Kyle Blanks, Mark Kotsay and Will Venable all in the mix at the other corner outfield spot.

Padres interested

Yeah i'd be shocked if he's not dealt. And plus it's time to see Tank in RF & on this team full time.

Idk if he is dealt or not. I think he should should be traded if the Sox get a valuable return. I'm just not sure if KW pulls the trigger on a deal for him.

i like Q. dude has the long ball, but can have cold streaks, so It wouldnt pain me to see 'em go.

With Pierre gone, we have:

Rios
Viciedo

then De Aza
and Lillibridge if Quentin leaves.

I wouldn't mind seeing a vet picked up to spot start or even start if they where solid enough.

If the Sox can get pitching for him, then I'd deal him. Otherwise, he's a good bat to keep around.

I really would like to see swisher back now that Ozzie is gone, that probably won't happen though. But for some reason Josh willinghams name sticks out as somebody KW would sign

I'm a little conflicted.

Part of me thinks he should go because he hasn't been producing as well and they should get rid of him while his value is high.

The other part of me is genuinely worried about having an outfield full of rookies and Rios. Viciedo, De Aza, Rios, and Lillibridge? No thank you.

You're right to worry. But no use keeping them around if we aren't going to see what they can do.

I have no problem with a house full of rookies they can't be worse than the shit we put on the field last season...and btw I think Scott Kazmir might be a guy on KW crosshairs don't know why but he always goes after guys who were once highly thought of and bombed then he tries to get Coop to fix em???IDK

I think Kazmir is hopeless. Even with Coop. Coop fixed mechanics. Not dead arm.
