Catching up with... John Scott

How have the Blackhawks been spending their offseason? chicagoblackhawks.com recently sat down with your favorite players to see how their summer has gone so far and discuss some of their aspirations for the 2011-12 NHL campaign. chicagoblackhawks.com caught up with defenseman John Scott, skated in 40 games, racking up 72 penalty minutes.

What have you been doing this summer?
Relaxing and hanging out. My wife is pregnant, so I’m helping her when she needs it. Also, working out, of course—it’s been pretty busy.

What’s your favorite offseason hobby?
Biking.

Have you been on any vacations?
I went up to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, to visit Marty Turco. I’m also going to Switzerland, and I went to Michigan for awhile.

Have you been keeping in touch with your teammates?
I've hung out with Turco and Nick Leddy and some other guys in Minnesota.

Are you working on any hockey skills specifically this summer?
I've been working on my hands and feet; I’m trying to add a little more skill to my game.

What’s your personal goal for the upcoming season?
I want to play more. I also want to contribute more on offense.

As much as I like to make fun of him for his awful skating at least he is trying to improve on that. And there was an article about him and Derek Boogaard that was very touching. Even though he may not be perfect on the ice, he is a nice guy with feelings off the ice.
