How the hell do you live with them? My girlfriend has two cats and the one woke us up (me) at 2am fucking making a racket. Loud. Knocking shit over. She's sleeping through it. I get up and she's like what are you doing? Gonna feed the cats, cause that's what she does and I don't know any better. So that was at 2 am. 4am rolls along same thing: Noise to wake up the downstairs neighbors. Her new downstairs neighbors are cool, but the previous bitched about her loud as cats, probably just being super super nice. Then it's 8 am same fucking thing. 2 am, 4am and then 8am. Seems on par with an infant not a fucking cat.

I can't fucking get anywhere near a good night's rest there because here one cat is a little fucking *****. And of course try telling her to that and I'll get my head eaten off. This has been going on for the last few months and I'm just getting tired of it.

I think she spoils her cats and doesn't even realize it sometimes.. FFS they have separate toothbrushes.

She just didn't train her cats for shit. All the ones I've ever had (I'm on #3 since I've lived on my own) I just leave out dry food 24/7, and maybe if forget to refill it for a day then they would/do get pissy about it. Yeah, they do the occasional running around like lunatics at weird hours, but I've never had one regularly knock anything over.

The most annoying thing any of mine have ever done is decide that they like to sleep on top of me (one on my chest or stomach, and the current one on my feet); since I tend to readjust my sleeping position several times throughout the course of the night I feel bad for disturbing their naps.

So, yeah, hers do their shit because she taught them it was ok.

Edit: Actually, just thought of one more annoying thing the current one does: if I'm sitting in my recliner and typing on my laptop he will chill on the armrest and paw at my left hand (because I'm typing rather than petting him). I blame half my typos on that little dipshit.

You should get a pet python or monitor.

Time to man up. Cats are too smart for some people.

She doesn't want to give the annoying one dry food because it's had urinary/kidney stones something to do with not drinking enough water and also it's an, "orange cat that tends to overeat."

Also I've never had a cat in my entire life and I'm not familiar with them, but God damn does she coddle them. Only feeds them organic wet food and always makes sure to change up which type she gives them. Today duck, tomorrow, salmon.

Orange boy is the troublemaker, the black long haired guy is a lot cooler. Every once in a while he'll take on the orange fellows habits, but more often than not he's way more chill.

And what if I moved in with her? Orange boy loves to chew on the headstock of her guitar. That shit ain't happening with mine.

So then fellow cat owners, if you hadn't gathered yet, what is your cat's feeding schedule look like?

Also this reminds me of when I first started dating her. I'd start to get the food out and orange dude would jump up on the counter and get right up in there, which surely was the norm. After maybe 4 or 5 times of me me picking him off the counter and throwing him on the floor he learned to have patience and stay the **** on the floor before I gave him his food.

I feed mine a raw diet, once in the morning, once at night. He has toys and things to scratch so he doesn't **** up my shit. I give him places up high to perch. He's pretty chill for the most part, but seems really attached to me. I've taught him to sit when I give him food. Trying to teach him to stand on his hind legs for treats.

Outside of the first week I had him, he's rarely a problem at night, more in the morning when I start moving. Once it hits 10, he refuses to leave me alone if I'm still sleeping because I'm usually up by then and feed him around 930ish. Most of the time, if you want a cat to stop doing something, you have to give no reaction, while rewarding positive behavior. They are extremely food driven, much moreso than dogs. My mom tripped out when I had him sit.

All I ever had was dogs so I kind of train him that way. Cats are pretty cool and not quite as independent or aloof as people make it seem. They want attention just as much as a dog does, they're just more willing to **** you up if you overstep their boundaries. Mine likes to fight with me though. He play bites and will hit me without his claws, almost like roughhousing with a dog. Only issue is they will get into everything, so you have to think like a cat to protect them from their curiosity.

My cat gets down when I tell him to, but he still jumps up there when I'm about to feed him and I have to make him get down every single time. I won't feed him if he's on the counter, but that doesn't stop him from going up there initially. They just really love food.

I've had cats over the years because of parents, girlfriends and spouse. Mixed reviews. They were all fun, but one of each pair without fail developed some sort of mental problem, while the other was absolutely pawsome. Whether it was suddenly being destructive, or deciding certain spots in the home were now litterboxes, or deciding to go feral, never had a cat pair that stuck together.

The Maine Coons were my favs. They both were very fond of a rescue pitbull roommate after having been the only pets running things for like 5 years which was unexpected and sweet. One died a couple of years before the other, and the one that went crazy in that pair was probably dementia, being I think around 15 years old or more.
