So heres a little thing for us to kill some time as we move closer to the season. What will happen is Blackhawk Players will be listed, and we vote in polls to get our top 15 Blackhawks of all time. Goalies will be done in a different thread.

A list will be in each new thread as voting ends.

Longevity, and production, plus playing in 4 different decades - Stan Mikita (had Hull not bolted to Winnipeg, it would have been him -but, he took the money, which I don't blame him for -but ...)

I voted for Mikita.

Hull was a better player, no real question about that. He was better when he was wearing the Indian even. He had a vastly better career.

That said, Mikita did more overall as a Hawk because he came up a Hawk and stayed a Hawk. Almost 1,500 points, and every last one of them for Big Chief.

That gets my vote.

Not trying to be an anus. Just curious. How many of you saw all the players on the list play live....not film clips but actually see them live at the Stadium or the UC.

I saw Hull in one of his few games as a Whaler. I must confess, because I grew up in Houston And saw #9 at an Aeros game as a kid I was a Whalers fan in my youth. Still have a logo puck in my office next to a Blackhawks puck.

Never saw Mikita.

Saw Larmer, Roenick and Chelios obviously... I'm old...

Speaking of which... Nah... I'll make a thread out of it...

I ran into Mikita a couple of times when I was a little kid- but never saw Bobby or Dennis Hull play, or Mikita, also never saw Amonte -think the last game I went to was during the season they won the President's Trophy -so that was before his time.

Saw all the others though.

And considering the few games that I had been too - I had seen hat tricks from Larmer (I think 2 times), Troy Murray once, and Roenick once. Larmer and Murray had hat tricks in a game about on New Years day 1986 or it might have been NYE ... against the Mario Lemieux led Pens. I wish that digital cameras were invented back then... would have had a nice little photo album of that stuff.

____

Edit:

Making the distinction that my opinion of my favorite Blackhawk and my opinion of the top all-time Hawk are different.

Mikita is number 1 - no doubt in my mind (he performed at the same level as Hull on the team while usually being on a different line, and got assists instead of goals), did it from 1959-1980 ... changed his game fundimentally from a chippy player to a Lady Byng winner while still maintaining the same level of effectiveness.

However, considering I decided I wanted to play Left Wing largely because of Bobby Hull -the Hawks were the only team in town when I was growing up -and Hull was synonymous with the Hawks... -Hull is my personal, all time favorite Hawk. Best hairpiece too ... well, better than Donald Trump's -- or maybe it is Trump's - they might have a time share deal on it. Got his book too (Hull's- it was a hockey instructional book - lots of diagrams, as well as some flip pages that if you fan the pages it sort of gives you an animated view of a lot of moves, including his dreaded slapshot.

The man played like a tank division. :) My kinda guy.

I know he's got a long way to go, but knowing that I'm currently watching a player who could end up being at the top of this list by the end of his career just blows my mind.

Toews, of course.

Toews, of course.

I remember very early in his career, the experts were saying that he was another Joe Sakic. I saw him a couple of games and laughed at that assessment.

I was a moron.

His game looks more & more like Sakic's every year. Hopefully he stays healthy enough to have Sakic's longevity.

BTW, I should have seen all the players on the list but strangely enough I never saw Troy Murray play live. I know I went to games when he was a Hawk but injuries and if memory serves, one game he had some sort of virus.

I was there to see Hull on skates at the UC and now that I think about that performance, Id like to change my vote!

I have not...I saw JR play here in PHX, but thats it.

Im only 20, and I grew up in AZ, so it was basically impossible

Agree

As for the question....

looking at total clips and stats, I gotta say Mikita
