The Bucks chose not to extend a qualifying offer to Charlie Villanueva, making him an unrestricted free agent.
The free agent market is small, and it's likely Charlie V. will be unable to field an offer larger than the MLE, which puts us into the equation if we're willing to spend a little money.
He averaged 16.2 PPG 6.7 RPG 1.8 APG in 26.9 minutes per game last year.
The guy has a bit of a reputation as not caring, selfish, etc.
He was a member of the 2004 UConn championship team with Ben Gordon, so maybe Gordon would be able to reel him in.
Contenders like Cleveland, San Antonio, Orlando, will no doubt have interest. But those teams may not be willing to offer more than a 1 or 2 year deal. If we offer a 5 year deal, Villanueva might want to sign with us, just for the security...and there is no guarantee that any of the contenders offer him a contract, despite the Cleveland rumors.
