Anyone watch the Nuggets vs. Lakers game?

During introductions, they introduced Chauncey Billups as being "From Park Hill, Colorado" similar to how we do from Chicago for Derrick Rose.

Kind of strange, since Billups went to college at Colorado...so that wouldn't be a bad thing to announce either.

Billups is ridiculous. He just stole the four point play from Gordon. It was like the Detroit one where he got knocked out of bounds in the corner.

Gordon's four point plays are obviously better because one won the game and the other sent the game into overtime, in what looked like a surefire Bulls' loss.

I'm surprise Rose or Sherron Collins didn't go to Illinois.

That was an amazing acting job by Billups on that play to sell the foul.

There was an 82games.com article about 2 years ago. They determined that Billups received the biggest star treatment in the NBA.

How did they determine that? Did they go back and tag legit fouls vs non legit fouls?

This game is crazy. Kobe with an incredible three.

Nuggets got really lucky on the Nene / Fisher charge call, because Nene didn't have his feet set, and he would have been fouled out plus two more points for the Lakers.

They came up with an expected free throw attempt stat using some formula (which they didn't share), and then did FT/FT Expected.

Billups got 1.55 times more free throws than would be expected.

Pretty dubious without sharing how they came up with expected free throws.

Game kind of fizzled at the end, but was still pretty good.

When Gordon has a poor shooting night "He shot the Bulls out of the playoffs." And Gordon put up 33 points that game, Billups only put up 18 here.

Lets see what they say about Billups' 5-15 shooting. Billups took a lot of really bad long threes in this game, and didn't have much success with them.

Good to see it's not only the Bulls who can't manage to throw a pass to get the ball in play at the end of a game.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  2. Golden State Warriors
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
That was a really good game...except for the Nuggets at the end. They pulled a Thabo/Bulls out of bounds play by losing it. I would have liked it to go down to a game winning shot or something, but that was still a really good game.

I don't really get it. He just "stole" the four point play from Gordon? Like Gordon created the damn four point play?

So....Gordon can do what Billups can do on the basketball court? Billups had a bad shooting night, unlike Gordon, Billups is a very, very good point guard who can help your team by running the offense and playing defense. Plus Billups causes lots more matchup problems than Gordon does, ask Ben Gordon...

The same Ben Gordon who held Billups to 19.3 PPG on 57.9 TS%? Chauncey Billups' scoring efficiency during the regular season was 59.1 TS%, so Gordon forced Billups' to be less efficient in that series, if that is what you're talking about.

Or the same Ben Gordon who had Billups' rendered useless in Game 6, but then Skiles idiotically switched Hinrich onto Billups, and Billups proceeded to get rolling and knock the Bulls out of the playoffs. Is that what I'd ask Ben Gordon about.

Let's not forget Billups does adds a lot more then just scoring to the team. He's a floor general that plays Defense, makes his players better, and hits the occasional "big shot". It's not all just about scoring (unless you're Ben Gordon's agent).

Hell with the damn stats....are you going to tell me that Gordon is a better player than Billups? Honestly? After watching these two players, you going to compare a multiple all-star and NBA Finals MVP to Ben Gordon and say Gordon's better...with a straight face.

WATCH the games, sometimes I think some of you just look at stat sheets in a dark room somewhere. Write a whole column trying to prove a point with stats...that would be great for my final project in Managerial Statistics, but it doesn't work in sports, why watch the games?

Gordon could not stop Billups, Gordon can't stop a paraplegic from scoring. Skiles sat him down because Gordon could not guard Hamilton or Billups. What team can you put Gordon on and have them make as big a jump as Denver has in the past year?
