If this kid decides to enter the draft, the Cubs better jump on him and draft him. If they do, he will probably be in the minors for a little while but could emerge as that quality starting pitcher that the Cubs have been looking for.

The draft is switching by the day, but Kolek would probably be picked before we go. Parks thinks the Cubs are going to eye a college pitcher. The draft this year is really good. The problem is the top tier talent doesnt stand out like usual. But, the draft is real deep.

he looks good but my guess is they would prefer a college pitcher at that spot who could be ready to go in a season or two at most..

high school kid no matter how talented is a good 3-4 yrs away, plus a risk that they may not sign and go to college.

The problem with high school pitchers is you're looking at 4-5 years before they see the majors most likely. And in those 4-5 years there's the high risk of injury. College pitchers have like 1-2 years til the majors if that.
