A much bigger loss would be dayoff taking Haviland to Winnipeg.

Interesting, I had been given some insight to this over the weekend. Didn't think it was going to be public for a little while.

According to the Winnipeg Free Press, True North has offered the position to current Chicago Blackhawks assistant GM Kevin Cheveldayoff.

Cheveldayoff has been the assistant GM and senior director of hockey operations for the Blackhawks for two seasons. Before that, he was general manager of the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.

I thought they were crazy for not keeping Dudley because they need to have someone in charge there who knows the players and is familiar with the organization. Cheveldayoff is the only person who might know those players better than Dudley.

It's not a terrible move, but in my mind, they should have gave Dudley another year or so. No other team would have been interested in Cheveldayoff anyway. I would have tried to sign him on as an assistant first, but who knows maybe they already attempted to do that.

It's very puzzling. They signed Dudley to a four year extension which the Peg will now pay out the next 8 years. Awful strange instead of just giving him a shot on a team he was already working with.

Strange indeed.

And yes IHF the Twitter is a great place for information. Even I have seen the light. Not to mention hilarious comments from some of those in the know you'd never see normally.

No, Twitter is a great place for misinformation. You don't have to check facts to tweet or be right more than .01% of the time, and even then, you are just retweeting something.

Cheveldayoff accepts job offer accoriding to Winnipeg Free Press. Good choice IMO, still think they should have kept Dudley though.

From the linked article:

Cheveldayoff led the Chicago Wolves to two Turner Cups and two Calder Cups as GM before moving to the NHL with the Hawks and immediately winning a Stanley Cup in 2009-10

More shit shoveled on Cheveldayoff...

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=368174

Cheveldayoff worked his way up in the Chicago organization to the position of assistant general manager and thanked his former bosses for letting him take the next step.

On Ladd...

"Andrew and I have a pretty good relationship based on the year that we spent together in the Blackhawk organization," he said.

The amazing thing is that he was given a 5 year contract per the article.

Worked his way up? What are they talking about, he was with the Hawks for two seasons, in the same position!

Phew... thank god he has a great relationship with Ladd... If only Dudley had thought of that.
