While the 2010 Rookie Tournament is underway, the Chicago Blackhawks may consider the game forgettable. Clearly the tournament can’t be taken too seriously, but players would argue the fact when this qualifies as their first impact on a very competitive roster.

Wish we could have watched the full game on tv here in Chicago. The only real impression I get from the 6 minute highlight video is that our goaltender in that game was terrible.

Wow you sound a lot like JH here as it's so early to declare this. While I'll agree and concede you have more of a point in regards to Skille, it's both his fault for being unable to take advantage and earn a spot on the Hawks as well as a testament to the depth the team that he couldn't crack a roster spot. This isn't the case this year. We'll really be able to see what he has to offer this year and how bad of a pick it turned out to be.

As for Beach, well, do I even need to explain why your snap judgment is poor?

I said Skille was inconsistent not a waste of money.

He's not even making a mil.

The role Skille will play with the Hawks fits him much better than the one he had to play in Rockford. He isn't a first or second line forward. He is a defensive forward and will prove great value this year on the fourth line... if he makes the team of course.

I can tell you right now Skille doesn't have Defense in his mind. Yes, last year he was alot better at D (when he backchecked), but still has his moments were he gets very lazy. Maybe being in the NHL will motivate him but I highly doubt it.
As for Beach the guy is a nutcase, we should trade him now while there is value for him

Every year it is something, getting suspended, having to leave a team because hes fighting with teamates. I can see him as the Big Ben R. of the NHL, or AHL

I should mention that any team that gives up 6 goals in the third - it is going to be a lot more than just a "goalie fail" - more like a 'team defense fail.'

Tsk Tsk -- young master Beach must have said "the magic word" to the official... he better work on the discipline a bit there. Well I suppose he'll have some time to get it down right - it isn't really an easy thing to do, if that is part of a guy's game. I see in that guy, a kid that is going to be constantly exploited by other teams until he grows up. Just an educated guess.

He's 20 years old & the Hawks have had him out in the community already.

That says something about the guy unlike Aliu.

Aliu is a lazy POS. Beach will be fine.

~ Six times Beach was ejected from minor hockey games in the Okanagan

~ He received a six-game suspension for bumping an official during a midget tournament.

~ Beach marked his debut for Everett by making a hunchback gesture towards former Vancouver Giant Milan Lucic, who has a curved spine and was merely one of the WHL's most feared players.

~ He scuffled with teammate Colten Teubert of White Rock during Team Canada's under-18 camp last summer.

~ Beach suspended indefinetely after firing a puck into the stands at the end of the Lethbridge @ Red Deer game this past weekend. It allegedly struck and injured a fan.

~ Sent home from Rockford for fighting with a teammate.

~ Fought with Mathis Olimb in developemental camp. Take note the size difference and video of Beach trailing him starting the fight, which then leads to a 4 month injury.[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCg04RlbRhs&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - Kyle Beach vs. Mathis Olimb @ 2010 Blackhawks Prospects Camp (2nd fight)[/ame]

Say what you want, but the guys is still acting like an ass, and it will never change. All it takes is for him to get frustrated 1 time on the ice and hes gonna make a major ****** out of himself.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing...both the magic word phrased in an unflattering way and his exploitation until he can gather himself.

I really don't have as big of a problem with his antics as IHF - as long as they're targeted at opponents, not the refs. He's going to blow up sometimes, and as long as they only result in an occasional 10 minute timeout, meh, that's far better than the bumping of a ref which always results in an extended suspension. I don't anticipate him ever to wear a captain/alternate letter, so his confrontations/discussions/interactions with refs need to be muttered under his breath so only he can hear.

No doubt Beach has asshole tendencies; well, shit, he is practically is all asshole, but if he can better channel his asshole tendencies (which is part of the maturation process and who knows how long that will take), he will be invaluable as he not only has the ability to agitate, but also the ability to score. Combining those two is pure awesomeness....especially in a playoff atmosphere facing an opponent repeatedly in a series.

Ok. :dunno:

~ He received a six-game suspension for bumping an official during a midget tournament.

Yeah, bad.

~ Beach marked his debut for Everett by making a hunchback gesture towards former Vancouver Giant Milan Lucic, who has a curved spine and was merely one of the WHL's most feared players.

Awesome. **** Lucic. Let him know he's not afraid of the big bully Lucic is. They've gone toe-to-toe. Respect the opposition? **** that; earn it.

~ He scuffled with teammate Colten Teubert of White Rock during Team Canada's under-18 camp last summer.

Fighting is part of the game, even with teammates.

~ Beach suspended indefinetely after firing a puck into the stands at the end of the Lethbridge @ Red Deer game this past weekend. It allegedly struck and injured a fan.

Yeah, bad. He cannot get involved in injuring fans be it intentional or being a dumbass.

~ Sent home from Rockford for fighting with a teammate.

Same redux.

~ Fought with Mathis Olimb in developemental camp. Take note the size difference and video of Beach trailing him starting the fight, which then leads to a 4 month injury.

Same redux redux.

Yeah, he's going to act the ass until he matures. I don't care if he makes a ****** of himself, as long as he scores and makes our opponent's lives hell. He could seriously have the mix that will lead to wins and some good entertainment.

The only issue I have with this is the drafting position of which he was picked.

Edit: Sorry maniacs, I should have multiquoted.

I couldn't agree more with Icehogs' assessment of Skille. To call him a defensive forward is ignoring all the facts of his career thus far. The kid is all speed and has 1 move that he tries to pull on people. That being said, last season he really matured on both ends of the ice, particularly in the defensive zone. He even earned himself some PK time (much to my shock.) It will be interesting to see how he ends up playing. I have this feeling it is going to be versteeg-esque in that at times he will be loved and at others, he will drive us bat shit crazy.

Now to Beach. I won't say the guy can't change, hell, I base my living on the idea that people can change, so that statement is just not something I can get behind. I also don't like his track record. Easier to take than Aliu's attitude because he is quite a bit more talented from the looks of it.

Fighting is part of the game, even with teammates.
QUOTE]

I agree and disagree with this statement. Fighting is a part of the game but so is knowing when and when not to. Picking your spots is vital and Beach hasn't shown very good discretion. THis is where the AHL comes in to play. I don' think he doesn't make the roster because of his cap hit as much as he needs to play in the "A" to mature in a slightly less high stakes environment. THe AHL is as much about learning how to be a pro as it is about developing skills. I would argue for the top prospects, it's more about learning how to be a pro. And as for fighting teammates, it needs to be a mutal thing (like Beaches other fight in rookie camp) as opposed to out of complete anger or at a freaking team dinner. Getting kicked off of a PLAYOFF team was pretty horendous.

I'm not one to make sweeping character judgements or to say a guy is a POS that I have never personally met. History isn't on Beache's sid but i'll save final judgement for when he is strapping it up for the Hogs or Hawk on a game to game basis.
