Stalberg & Scott there.

Kopy, Hoss, Niemi, Crawf & Huet aren't.

Opening ceremonies were pretty cool. Wish I could be there.

Went last night after work, about 330. Couldn't get into the ballroom. ALOT of people who paid good money to be here were greeted to nothing short of a glorified Sportsmart. The players aren't walking around like last year. In fact alot of them are home. Niemi, Hossa to name two. These guys are rock stars now. The way they have the autograph sessions set up is ridiculous. Nobody I want is available. Kaner and Toews are not on the list. Even Mikita is not here. He's sick. No fault there.
First you have to get wrist bands for a player's signing. Then if you don't get to him during the session you lose. How about Phil Russel and Jake Dowell. Need their autographs? I thought not. Me either. This convention stinks. Want to see the Hawks? Go to a game. Sign me VERY DISAPOINTED!

I remember hearing the same things about the Bears' Convention the year after they went to the Super Bowl. The fan base outgrows the venue. The Bears moved to Soldier Field to accomodate, and it was a much, much better experience. Could be the time for the Blackhawks to do the same.

There were the same amount of tickets sold last year. They just changed the format. And like I said, these guys are rock stars now. That is the difference, I think. I went Saturday and it was better. Got to see the big names but only in a forum type setting. I luckily won a card to get a Toews autograph. My kid got her jersey signed. He is a class guy. I wish I could say the same for the whole convention.
It was funny when the host said there would be no signing at the forum and there would be plenty of time for that later. Like when? Never that's when. The fans pay for accessability to players. We got nearly zero. That stinks.

I went last season and had some buddies go back this year and they didn't think that it was all that different than last year and didnt have any problems getting autos that were high end because they only could be had with scratch tix or from staying in the hotel. They also didn't think it was unreasonable that guys signed for their alloted time and then left to let the next guy into the signing area. If you stay at the hotel, your experiance is likely a ton better. I guess its all about perception, I just didn't want this one opinion to be the only one that was heard.

It's over! Another organizational failure. The Hilton is way to small for this thing. I think it needs to be in McCormack place or some other bigger building. 20000 fans and only 3k can get in to the main ballroom for the opening ceremonies. I know the NHL is using this as a test market for the rest of the league. But Really. Three years and they have not gotten it together yet. I am not wasting my money next year for this thing.

U.C. has my vote. How about having autographs with like six guys at a table for 2 hours and then have another 6 for 2 hours and so on. How hard would that be. I won't be going back next year, they can stuff it. My buddy stayed at the hotel and he was disappointed as well. Too small a venue and not enough access to the players. Isn't access what you paid for?
