Would the Bulls have gone on an 8 peat had Mike never called it quits for the baseball diamond? I have wondered this since the core of the Bulls never changed much during that 8 year stretch. I know Orlando was pretty good then, and Houston obviously doubled up on the league for the year and a half Mike was batting .202. I just want to see some opinions of what if.
And I apologize if this isn't deemed worthy of a thread.

It would have been interesting to see Jordan against the second best player in the 1990's, Hakeem. Olajuwon was not intimidated by anyone and his play rose to the occasion. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened. But I would never bet against Jordan.

Someone that is way better at this than me can do the research, but around the second three peat I remember hearing that Houston was the only team that the Bulls had a losing record against during the Jordan era at that point. Take it for what it's worth

I think they could have 8 peated but imo It would be worse than what it is now... can you imagine how much more people would be Bulls fans that have no fan-ism of Chicago it self? There all ready is a shit load of Bulls fans that aren't from Chicago...

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bulls
Houston would've smacked him up.

Everyone smacks him up, but he still comes away with the trophy.

:yeah:

I have no doubt the Bulls would have 4-peated. But an 8-peat? The league would have adjusted, and you can't just replay 2 years in time, you have to attempt some accounts of what would have changed after the fact.

I prefer the what if scenario of, what if the Bulls drafted Mookie Blaylock/Tim Hardaway, Vlade Divac and Cliff Robinson in 1989 instead of Stacey King and BJ Armstrong and Jeff Sanders. Seriously I debate that 1989 draft in my head so often. It could have been a better scenario for the Bulls, than Jordan not retiring.

It would have been great to see them win 8! I'm sure all of us who grew up watching them think about it from time to time.

Man is been about a month or so since I stopped back in here! Damn lockout!

Id like to think an 8 peat would have happened. Its crazy to imagine. I was barely getting into basketball when Jordan left, but all in all I'm not bitter or anything that MJ left. He went away got his shit togethr, tried something new and came back to pick up where he left off.

MJ has shattered enough dreams: Malone, Stockton, Barkley, Ewing, Kemp, the city of Cleveland. Was Drexler on those Rocket teams?

Most likely not. I think somewhere in there a transition period happens with the team. Mainly 94-95 when Grant left and before Rodman got there.

I think they win 1993-1994 but with no Grant on that 94-95 team I'm not sure they have enough muscle inside to win it.

Yeah Drexler was on the 94-95 Rocket squad.

Well that happens with all franchises that win a lot. Look at the Yankees, Steelers, Packers, Patriots, Lakers, etc. You will find a ton of fans of those teams everywhere outside of their respective cities.

I don't think it's possible, the Rockets and Magic were legit teams. You can't play 100+ games every season for 8 years and sustain a high level of competition, you need a break. Maybe 4 or 5, but if MJ had stayed I don't think we would have 3peated the second time just due to fatigue alone.

I don't know about 8 straight. But 2 four-peats? Absolutly. They wouldn't have been able to beeat the rockets in 95 without a viable bigman.
