Hey everyone!

Episode 118 of The Chicago Bullseye is on-line and ready to download. You can download it on iTunes, or listen to it at The Bulls Podcasters.

The main topic of the show is Carmelo Anthony and if the Bulls should give up Joakim Noah for him. Fred is overwelmingly in favor of it, I am not so sure. What are your thoughts?

We also bring in my dog loving girlfriend to discuss Michael Vick. Does he deserve what is happening to him now?

Can't wait to hear all your feedback! Party on!

Stopped listening when you started touting Bill Simmons' basketball book. Yuck.

But really, good show, I liked the intro.

Wow...I agree with Fred here, I agree with Karl Rove about as much as I agree with Fred, but I agree with him.

Mark you said that Carmelo can't shoot threes. As I had to explain to Doug, who wouldn't respond...Carmelo hit 35% from 3pt over the last 3 seasons combined. Carmelo can definitely shoot threes.

There is no way you can measure contrition as far as Vick goes. He suffered for the suffrage he put on those dogs and that is all you can ask. The other day he talked about the fact that he can't buy his daughter a dog. That is fair punishment for someone who has done what he has done. He has cost himself millions of dollars and some of his prime years. Now, he is back and I think things were handled fairly...

i think part of his punishment is how we continue to treat him like crap.

You know, I didn't have the stats in front of me, but I didn't think Melo was a poor 3-point shooter. Wish you were on the show to call him out on it. Obviously, that percentage is just average, but you do have to guard him out there. I guess it all comes down to this:

Which lineup is better:
Rose - Brewer - Deng - Noah - Boozer

vs.

Rose - Brewer - Melo - Gibson - Boozer

The rule changes instituted after the 2004 Pistons won changed the "Defense wins championships" mantra. You need both offense and defense to win in the modern NBA. I like to ask, "How many guys on your team demand a consistent double team?" Usually, good teams have 2 guys who demand double teams. The Melo version of the Bulls would have 3 guys demanding double teams. That's a recipe for 60 wins in the modern era, and that team, with superior role players, could beat the Heat. I don't see us beating the Heat with China Doll Deng throwing up his 18 foot jumper.

right now brewer and noah dont really have to be guarded on the offensive end. With this line up you can double rose rose with 1 and 2 guard. leave a guy on deng while he's in the paint, and play boozer tight with the 5 and help with the 4.

with melo you'd have to double either 2 of big 3, but you wont be able to double all of them.

plus with another serious scoring threat, rose will have more energy to guard some1 on defense.

Also i think we're forgetting that good players come to good teams. Really good teams tend to get other players to join them via free agency. Yeah, we'll have taj at the center spot for a season, but soon after that we'll get a legit center via free agency.

Well that team would be pretty awful defensively since Boozer at defense. I hope that we at least put Gibson at center. My view on the whole Melo trade was that we would still probably get to the 2 round or at the best the ECF since our team would be pretty void at center. I think next offseason we could sign a decent Center and contend for a title. The two teams would be:

I'm all for doing the trade since our team would be so deep. If we could get a guy like Rudy Fernandez though I might hold off since they would be a pretty deep roster with us being two deep at every position. I probably would still do the trade. Now if JR would play whatever for this team it would be pretty unstoppable with Melo next year and we could challenge the Heat every year. There's going to be some decent center's and let say we could get Kendrick Perkins for the full mid-level for 5 years.

Rose/Watson
Brewer/Korver/Watson
Melo/Korver
Boozer/Gibson
Perkins/Gibson

Teams didn't leave Deng last year so why will they this year? They just cheated off him. Completely overblown that Deng doesn't space the court. The really problem last year was that we had both Taj and Noah which no one guarded. That was the main problem vs Cleveland in the playoffs

I love the energy that Noah brings to this Bulls team, but I would trade him in a second to get Melo. A team with Rose, Melo, and Boozer would be too good to pass up just to keep a flawed(and most likely soon to be overpaid) Noah.

When I look at the Bulls current roster, I think they're definitely lacking that second guy on the perimeter that can create his own offense. Not to mention, Deng's numbers (and touches) are probably going to take a hit in his new role with Boozer onboard. I think it's a no brainer trade, IMO. I would gladly watch Deng, Noah, and Gibson get lost to aquire Melo.
