Burning Up The Competition: Chicago Inferno
--The Changes--
The Inferno's past makes the future look promising
Chicago, IL- A few days ago, the commisioner of the United Hockey League, which has gone into its fourth season, has announced there will be a few major changes in the upcoming season, for NHL 10.
The Chicago Inferno, after starting off their franchise in a terrible manner, they have managed to barely slip into the playoffs the first two seasons. After the second season finale, the Inferno got bad news when defensivemen and Captain Jordan Charles announced his retirement and left wing Kerin Mitchell became a free agent. Possibly, that was the change the Inferno needed as they went and signed defensivemen Tony Lanteri, who helped the team cruise to a 23-9-0 record.
After that, they starting heating up and winning nearly two thirds of their games, and at some points were nearly unbeatable. The 23-9-0 season was their best, as they got to a great start, and cooled off later in the season. The Inferno still, could not take home the hardware as they lost in the UHL Championship. As the next season draws near, the Inferno hope to finally take home the UHL Championship, and get the Inferno fans what they want.
The Breakdown:

--Player Bios and Roster--
Chad Fellers and Eric Follman are the two captains of the squad this season
Chad Fellers | Pos: LW | Age: 25 | Num: 34 | Player Type: Ticket Seller (Captain)
Before- Chad Fellers is one hell of a character. Hes the Manny Ramirez of the UHL. Hated by some, but loved by many. Heres a guy who can back up his talk if he has to, and will definantly fill some seats for the Inferno. Hes one of the best on the team, and his stats back it up. He made the All-American high school team in Chicago Illinois, and is locally recruited onto the Inferno. Sometimes his actions off the ice might hurt the team, but with a guy this good, you can't help but sign him.
Now- Going back four years, the Inferno were once questionable about how Chad Fellers' future would wind up on the Inferno. It turned out to be a great signing by the Inferno as Fellers lead the UHL in points in season three, while the Inferno cruised to a 23-9-0 record before losing in the Championship game. Fellers has since than been promoted to captain, and has been featured on the cover of magazines such as ESPN and Fitness Monthly.
CONTRACT: 5 YEARS, 52 MILLION
CAREER STATS: 77 GOALS, 65 ASSISTS, 142 POINTS
Eric Follman | Pos: LD | Age: 22 | Num: 5 | Player Type: Franchise Player (Assistant Captain)
Before- Eric Follman is the future of the Inferno. Just graduated from high school, as one of the best in the nation. Hes a more quiet guy off the ice, but will get loud if he has to. Like Chad Fellers, hes locally recruited onto the Inferno. This guys slap shot has the power to make a goalie stop in his tracks. Defensiveman quiver when he has an open shot. Did we mention, hes only 19?
Now- Eric Follman came into the United Hockey League a franchise player Left Wing, but after a couple changes to his game, he has transformed himself into a defensive weapon. The Inferno style of play has their defenders putting the puck towards the net lately, and thats where they seem to fit perfectly. Follman, only twenty three looks to continue playing as an Inferno player for years to come.

Jordan Charles Jr. | Pos: RD | Age: 21 | Num: 65 | Player Type: Featured Face (Rookie) Now- As you all may know, this familiar name comes with great pride. His father and now retired Chicago Inferno defensivemen Jordan Charles had a couple great seasons in Chicago, and is overwhelmingly happy with how his son's career has turned out so far. So far, is the keyword. Jordan Charles Jr. grew up playing in the affiliate Quad City Blaze of the Inferno, and has finally gotten his call to play with the big boys. Jordan will play offense unlike his father, and is expected to be in Chicago for a long time to come.
CONTRACT: 3 YEARS, 10 MILLION

Jordan Charles Sr. | Pos: Coach | Age: 39 | Num: N/A | Player Type: Team Leader/Coach
Before- Jordan Charles Sr., father of Inferno player Jordan Charles Jr., now finds himself the coach of the Chicago Inferno. This comes after a long promise of a position open for him when he was ready.

rosters due to change..
(Scene Takes Place In Team Locker Room)
Charles Sr.: Well guys, hockey is back! I know you've all been waiting all offseason long, and finally it's time for us to strap the skates back on, and get out on the ice. I'll be the coach now, as expected, and we'll be playing a similar style of hockey. No big changes will be made around here. I liked what you guys had, and I'll make sure to keep that going.
Chad Fellers: Sounds good. But what about your kid? You'll be giving him a hard time, right coach?
Charles Sr.: *laughs* oh yeah, he'll be carrying the bag of sticks around. The guys a rookie, so let him have it fellas. *team laughs*
Chad Fellers: *smiles* Oh, great.
Eric Follman: Hey, I know a lot about being the rookie. I was a couple years ago, when your Dad was actually on the team. They made me do some really weird stuff, but it was all in fun.
Jordan Charles Jr.: Yup, so guys, lets make this a good year. Good hockey, good teammates, and a good record. Jordan, you're gonna have some big shoes to fill. Chad and Eric have some pretty good career stats here in Chicago.
Chad Fellers: 77 GOALS, 65 ASSISTS, 142 POINTS
Eric Follman: 30 GOALS, 53 ASSISTS, 83 POINTS
Jordan Charles Jr.: Wow, that is good. Hopefully someday I'll be up there.
Jordan Charles Jr.: *laughs* You wish, kid. For now focus on now. Lets win some hockey games. We got our first game coming up, so lets be prepared.
(The team talks strategy with head coach Jordan Charles Sr., as the Inferno look forward to their season ahead.)

CHI-5 TAB-4: It's opening night here in the UHL, and the Chicago Inferno faced off against the 60th best team in the professional league, but Chicago stuck with them, and with some breaks, the Inferno won the game in overtime on a slipping puck between the goalies legs.
Chad Fellers led the team with three assists, as he and Eric Follman both scored goals as well. The Inferno couldn't believe they came back from a 3-0 defecit to win this game, but anything can happen in hockey.

Chicago has faced two premier clubs thus far, both with great records, and have gone into overtime with both. We'd like to see Chicago settle down and face some more laid back teams in the next few games.

CHI-2 TSS-4: Chicago thus far, has had big trouble playing clutch defense, and that continues with this game. Chicago scored the first goal of the game, and gave up a tying goal less than three minutes later. Again, that happened with the second goal.
Than in the third, Chicago gave up two quick goals with under thirty seconds left in the game. An upset Chicago made their way to their locker room with their heads down, and an angry Jordan Charles Sr. let the team know how he felt.

Chicago Inferno: 2-1-1
(Scene Takes Place In Team Locker Room, After Team Loss In Last Nights Game)
Coach: Alright guys, I'm semi-impressed with this season thus far. We've played good for the most part, but we've also had some bad games. If we want to make it the full distance and win a UHL championship, we're going to have to eliminate those "bad games" that we like to have every so often.
Chad Fellers: I hear ya coach, and I'm sure the rest of the team does as well. And if they don't *looks around the room* than that will change. I'm in the prime of my career, and I'm trying to win a championship for Chicago.
Eric Follman: True that! We've got a great thing going here, and no one is going to ruin it under my watch.
Coach: Calm down, Captain America. *team laughs* Now we're about nearing the halfway point in the year, and we've got some potential all stars on the team *looks at Chad Fellers and Eric Follman* And EVEN a possible rookie of the year in Jordan Charles Jr., who is unfortunately my son. *laughs* But that should not stop us at all. We need to focus on the Chicago Inferno all the way through.
Chad Fellers: Exactly. By the end of the year we need to take games like these and win them in OT. Overtime has been great for the Chicago Inferno since this franchise started, and we need to continue that tradition.
Coach: Alright, and with that, we're gonna call it a night. We gotta go out there and keep fighting fellas', and we'll find ourselves deep into the playoffs.
Jordan Charles Jr.: Sounds good Da-- I mean coach. *team laughs*
*The team gets up and gets dressed in their street clothes. Soon after, rookie Jordan Charles walks up to Chad Fellers and Eric Follman, the teams two veterans.*
Jordan Charles Jr.: Hey, you guys wanna grab a drink at the Elixir club? It'll be my treat. I've heard the Inferno have had some good times over there. *laughs*
Chad Fellers: Whatchu think Eric? *Eric nods of approval*....Alright kid, we'll grab some drinks. I mean whose gonna resist a free drink? Oh and yeah...back when we had Michael Croom we had some loooong nights at the Elixir Club....I remember one time when.....
(The three walk out of the locker room together, as Chad goes on to tell rookie Jordan Charles Jr. about the fun times the team had a couple years back. Chad, Eric, and Jordan share a fun night out, but don't get too wild, as they know they have hockey to play soon, something that we didn't see in the past with Chad Fellers and Eric Follman. They have grown up, and have transformed into mature hockey players.)

CHI-3 CCS-2: Every game this season Chicago has had, has seemed to either head into overtime, or be a very close game in the final minute. Tonight, Chicago thought they had this in the bag after one period, but were reminded that they didn't. The Saints added two goals in the third (one with 57 seconds left) to tie the game.
Chicago, however, would score early on in overtime on a Chad Fellers goal that rolled into the net.

CHI-1 DET-3: Chicago seemed to be heating up here in Chicago, and were playing a solid team tonight. Fellers added a goal in the first to give the Inferno the lead, but it wasn't enough, as the Inferno collapsed in the third and gave up three goals to lose 3-1.

CHI-2 BBQ-3: After a tough loss last night, the Inferno looked to head out onto the ice, and have a great game. They did that for the most part, but they caught yet another tough break late in overtime, on a lying puck. The opposing team got the puck, and fired a slapshot past the Inferno goalie for the victory.

Sunday Conversation With: Captain Chad Fellers
Written By: CHAD0034 (Chad Fellers)
Stuart Scott: Hello and welcome to our "Sunday Conversation". This week we've featured Chicago Inferno left wing and captain, Chad Fellers. Chad and the Chicago Inferno are off to a 6-3-3 record to start off the season, and are looking tp continue their streak of making the UHL playoffs every year, with this being their fourth season. Chad how does Chicago stay so consistent?
Chad Fellers: Well, I wouldn't say we stay consistent, but we try to stay as consistent as possible. I feel we've improved vastly over the past three seasons. If you look at year one, we started off 3-6, and weren't that great of a hockey team. In season three I think we had our best start, but the "lockout" killed us, and we just weren't the same after returning.
Stuart Scott: Only you and one other teammate, Eric Follman, have been on the team since year one. How has your relationship on and off the ice developed since Chicago's inagural season?
Chad Fellers: At first, I really didn't like the kid. We all gave him stuff for being a young, 19 year old rookie, but eventually we got used to him and would let him go out with us every once in a while. On the ice, I like the way he plays. This year he seems to be more offensive, which helps at times, but sometimes we need him to play a more defensive style of hockey. All in all, he's turned into a good kid, and teammate.
Stuart Scott: What guys do you miss the most from the beginning of the Chicago Inferno?
Chad Fellers: Oh this one is easy. I'd say season two was my favorite by far. Our team consisted of myself, Eric, Michael Croom, Kerin Mitchell, and Crimsion (Jordan Charles). We had amazing team chemistry, and even though it wasn't the most skilled Chicago Inferno team, we had an awesome time on and off the ice. I just wish we could sign those two guys again (Michael Croom, Kerin Mitchell).
Stuart Scott: Is it weird now seeing your former teammate as your coach now for the Chicago Inferno?
Chad Fellers: I wouldn't say it's weird, but it is odd at times. I think to myself this guy played right behind me on defense for the first two seasons, and now he finds himself my head coach. Now I feel dumb for always giving him crap about holding his liquor. *laughs* But we have more of a friend relationship than anything.
Stuart Scott: Cool, cool. Now how is your team off the ice now that you, the captain of the team, have matured and grown older?
Chad Fellers: Well, I'm not an old fart just yet. I still have my times where I like to head to the clubs for sure, but it's just not after every game like it was the first couple years. But we're more of a "take-care-of-business" kinda team now.
Stuart Scott: A lot of people compare you to the star of the movie "Major League", Wild Thing. He was a guy who was a huge partier and crazy at first, but settled down, and as he settled down, his skill began to vanish. People are saying you're going to wind up like him. Is that true?
Chad Fellers: *laughs* I don't think so. I doubt you'll be seeing me in deordorant commercials and such in the future. I still keep it fresh even though I'm getting older.
Stuart Scott: *laughs* Thanks for joining us, Chad. Good luck to you and the Inferno as your season carries on.
Chad Fellers: No problem, Stuart. My pleasure.
(Scene Takes Place In Team Locker Room)
Coach: Alright, everybody, gather up. I've got some news to tell you guys. *team gathers around coach* Alright, our general manager just told me on the phone that we're signing two free agents from Pittsburgh, PA. Dena Fitzgerald, and Colt Hughes. *team faces go blank*
Chad Fellers: Coach! Those two bastards were on that "G'z Up" team we hated. We had a huge rivalry with them!
Coach: I know, I know. Our GM really wants us to "win it all" this season, so he says he is willing to do anything to bring home the UHL Cup. Even sign two former rivals of the Inferno.
Chad Fellers: *sighs* I guess you're right. I do want to win, and those guys have gotten better in the past few seasons....
Eric Follman: I hated that Dena Fitzgerald guy! I had to fight him at least three times.
Coach: Both of these guys are supposedly gonna be starting for our team in tomorrows game, so be ready to work with some new guys, Chad.
Chad Fellers: Sounds good, I guess.
Coach: Alright, this will help our team. At least thats what our GM thinks. If it doesn't, I'm sure he will make the necassary changes. Now let's get out on the ice. We've got some practicing to do. The two free agents should be in town by the end of the night.
Inferno Sign Two Key Free Agents From Former Rival Team; Fellers Moves Back To Center
Dena Fitzgerald(LW), and Colt Hughes(RW) will be playing alongside Chad Fellers(C) for the Inferno offense
Chicago, IL- Today, Chicago coach Jordan Charles Sr. announced that the Inferno have signed two big free agents to contracts. Dana Fitzgerald and Colt Hughes both come from a former rival team, "G'z Up". Chicago defensivemen Eric Follman are known to have had a big rivalry, consisting of three fights.
"Now that he's an Inferno player, I guess I have to get along with him," said defensivemen Eric Follman.
Dana Fitzgerald will play left wing, while his long time teammate Colt Hughes will play right wing. Chad Fellers will move back to center, where he played for the Inferno for three years.
"It'll be weird playing back there, but I'll get used to it after a few games," said Fellers. Chicago is 6-3-3 right now, and will look to improve for an expected playoff run.
