They are the biggest market internationally.

The biggest issue with any player signing with China is the opt out issue. They won't allow players leaving in mid season to return to the NBA. They'd have to play the entire season.

So...

If ONE Star says "hey...You know what? I'll play the whole season.", and get paid sum MILLIONS, I think that will be the turning point of this whole situation.

The Big Named guys joining up in China for a whole season will attract all the MAJOR sponsors. The NBA will actually lose money (for real) and do what they have to do to end this situation. :admin:

There's one problem with your theory: nobody wants to play a full season in China especially a big star in the states...

Anyway, if a major playerdoes happen to sign overseas, I do agree with the op and I do believe that will wake David Stern up...

I agree, it's WAY too big of a risk for a big name player (Rose, Kobe, LBJ) to go to China and lose out on the NBA season when/if it picks back up. I'd love to see those guys ball in Europe for a few months though

Here's the thing our players should know...the U.S. has no extradition treaty with China...so, any/all players can go to China, play there...wait for the NBA to get it together, and then come back whenever the hell they want. Screw China's contracts. Get paychecks while playing, and void your contract whenever you want. No way the U.S. will send Dwight Howard/Kobe/whoever back to China to face lawsuit...and no way China and force Dwight to pay after the team wins the claim.

Compounding my reasoning, China is communist...U.S. won't extradite Dwight to a communist country...and good luck sending your tiny man police over to arrest him.

Yes, I dislike China. China's team shooting 57 FTs to Georgetowns 15 compounds this. #smallmansydrome

I wouldn't want to play for China either for a whole year...but if the money is right, I can't help but imagining a few superstars accepting offers..If this lockout is no where near an end, what's so impossible about players waning to play anywhere and getting payed??:pacman:

I think the players are going to give in and allow the owners a higher percentage of the money and for some reason, I believe they will start on time. Don't quote me on that...I just think that will happen.

Stern's language lately suggests that he knows the players will cave a bit on that particular area...just a feeling that I have is all...

China is one option for some players to make side money, but its not the only option. It might play a role in giving the players some idea to extend the street leagues to something that it should never be, and that will make a big mess out of this whole lockout for the fans.

I can somewhat agree. I think it'll mostly come down to the players breaking and giving in if we do have a season. Though right now I would say we're not having a season still.

I agree. If the players agree to let the BRI become atleast a 50/50 split, everything will fall into place. To me that's the sticking point. I have a similar belief that the season will start on time.

Maybe I'm wrong...

But if the site is growing in popularity...people are going to hear about it and want to join. Just like any environment, ESPN, Real GM and other forums, they have their own cultures. Those of us on CCS have to respect that, at the same time, newcomers have to respect that this is another forum.

It's like working for another company, its your job to adjust to the culture of the new company or you will find yourself out of that company.

I had to adjust from Bullspodcaters.com...where now there are only a handful of people left who made the transition. It was a smaller, tight-knit group and honestly, I don't know if I corresponded with many more than 15 people on a routine basis over there. However, coming over here, I had to adjust. Guys were throwing insults out there right and left. One guy was going in on people so hard, I wondered if I should be here. He has since left but he and I agreed most of the time so we never clashed. I made the adjustment and thrived and found CCS more to my liking.

I think its best to defend the integrity of this forum and its culture, show tolerance and patience but be stern about what is and isn't allowable. And don't chase people away from what I think may be Chicago's most prominent sports forum by pushing Rush and other mods to ban those we disagree with. Trust the mods' judgement and trust the rules and norms that are setup and people will disappear when its known they are not wanted.

Just my opinion.

Amen...

This thread is turning into another group thearapy..I'm cured.Rush prescribed me riddlin and thorazine..it feels very strange..

Back to subject now, I don't see why people find it so impossible for NBA stars to sign over seas longterm..It sure would send a strong message to the lockout. May be the only way to wake some people up..

Hou...did anyone other than you and me make it over? Pinkizdead stopped posting ages ago and other than him, idk who else made that transition. Even the hosts stopped posting (minus Kush every now and then). Kinda sucks...

But in many was CCS is far better than bullspodcasters would have ever been, and probably has the best community out of every Chicago sports message board. It'd be a darn shame if we scared off good potential posters by this random garbage that we're throwing out there.

Shakes stopped posting too. Stig shows up once every blue moon. A lot of them were following Doug Thonus (who gets NO love on this forum...lol)...and a lot of them hang on his every word. Not saying he doesn't know what he is talking about...just saying that is who they were following. So maybe CCS isn't for them...

lol I have never seen more Doug Thonus bashing than here on CCS.

I forgot about Diddy1122. He shows up once in a blue moon as well. And maybe bullsman24?

And what the heck happened with Doug anyway? He says "we're merging with CCS" and then never posts again. Alas, it's a shame. A lot of those guys could add a bit more flavor to the debates around here.
