Hey all,

I'm looking to purchase an old muscle car, as in investment/toy. My first choice was any vehicle containing the 1970 350 rocket engine, which are tough to find although can have one built and dropped for about $5K. However, the added cost equals the same asking price of below vehicle. There are several vehicles which are now overpriced due to either very few remaining or popularity. These include all Mopars, GTO's, and Chevelle's, and have been eliminated as an option.

So, any other ideas on this project would be more than welcome.

This striking 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass S is for sale in our Chicago Showroom. Powered by a 455 V8, from a 1968 Cutlass that has been bored .030 over to 461 CID, with all new pistons, gaskets, rods, and a nice cam, backed by a Turbo 400 transmission, and has a 3.42 rear gear that helps this Cutlass move quickly. Options on this 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass S for sale include: AM radio, power brakes, power steering, tilt wheel, seat belts, vinyl interior, raised white lettered tires, and rally wheels. Built at the Freemont, California plant, this car spent most of its life out west. Ceramic coated headers and a newer Flowmaster exhaust system give this Cutlass a mildly aggressive tone. The paint was professional and meticulously done in 2013 and the suspension is also new. The few changes that Oldsmobile made to the Cutlass included: a split grille with vertical bars and taillights. Headrests were now stand equipment because of new federal safety regulations.

Aren't those cars bad for the environment?

If ya look at the rear, it has a nice dent in the LR bumper and the light is out..Potential accident?

Whats the asking price?

Its not a 4-4-2, so long term resale might suffer

Is that the original motor etc?

Whats the undercarriage like?..Rust anywhere etc

Take all that into consideration as when it comes time to sell it, (and that will come) you might be in over your head

Just some tips

also..There is a consignment dealer (not mentioning names) in the far NW burbs... bad juju

I have found that youre way better off buying from a private party than those consignment dealers..maybe check the want ads on Craigslist, E-bay etc..Even local papers

Here is something else to consider..Get the VIN number..There are sites that you can go and check that number and it will tell you what equipment the car was built with..You might be buying some salvage car that was put together in some guys garage

Beautiful automobile, only appears to be an automatic. The one I posted has an 18K asking price(newly re-built 455 motor). 442's generally cannot be had for less than $25K...plus I drive 2 footed to begin with so a manual would be a challenge in city conditions.

But damn, that 66' is clean, clean, clean.

All the carbon fiber on the inside looks a hot mess. Also not a fan of old blitz wheels. Also he is spraying on stock twins? I have no idea what this guy was trying to accomplish with that build. It is all over the place.

Very Good

Answering question from Chicago thread...have not bought cutlass.

My dilemma is this, as I am very picky and will never find "that" car...which leaves me 2 choices:

Buy one from a gearhead that has already done all the performance modifications, and change the rest to how I want it.
Or.
Buy an original(which can be had from estate sales for less than 10K), then make it a project car.

Finding a restored with the proper suspension is tough. As you may recall, they handle like shit to begin with...add HP and they handle even shittier.

So, I keep looking.
