Bears sign RB Saquon Barkley 4 years 50 million

I know what everyone is going to say never sign a RB to a big contract but Bears are a run first team with Justin Fields, Lamar Jackson has a reliable RB in JK Dobbins while Michael Vick had Warrick Dunn. Barkley is a top five RB when healthy which looks to be the case this season.

He can lead the Bears in rushing & receiving yards in 2023.

Bears sign DL Dre'Mont Jones to 5 years 61.5 million

He's an underrated DE on one of the best defensives in the NFL he only has 6.5 sacks so far this season and missed some time due to injuries but he's an inexpensive starter that'll transform this defense and give them the 3 tech they need as a player similar to Aaron Donald style.

Bears sign RT Mike McGlinchey to 4 years 52 million

He hasn't lived up to his draft hype and he's not so popular anymore with the fanbase due to his high expectations but he has been a solid right tackle that excels in run blocking but that fits Bears run first scheme.

Draft

* Bears trade 2023 first round pick #2 to the Seattle Seahawks for 2023 first round pick #5 (via Denver), 2023 first round pick #15, 2024 fourth round pick

Texans draft QB Bryce Young
Seattle Seahawks draft QB CJ Shroud
Lions draft DT Jalen Carter
Cardinals draft DE Will Anderson

1 [5] OL Peter Skoronski [NorthWestern] 6'4 300lbs

He's going to compete with Braxton Jones at LT he's not as athletic as teammate Slater but he's stronger and in my opinion does a better job at not giving up inside leverage. Skoronski and Braxton Jones are both too good not to start so it's possible the loser ends up moving to LG, competition is never a bad thing to have on the offensive line.

10539380.jpg

1 [15] WR Jaxon Smith Njigba [Ohio State] 6'0 200lbs

Justin Fields old teammate was projected as the best WR before the start of the season but finished with only 5 receptions for 43 yards this season. He missed a lot of time but that may be in the Bears favor as he'll likely drop in the drop because of it.

2 [] LB Penei Sewell [Oregon] 6'3 250lbs

Brother of NFL OT Penei Sewell at 6'3 250lbs he certainly meets the size requirements of an NFL LB. Bears have a rising star in Jack Sanborn but we didn't get to see enough to really know what he has.

1351771936.jpg

4 [] C Ricky Stromberg [Arkansas] 6'4 300lbs

Lucas Patrick should be back and healthy after a disappointing year for him but I'm hoping he bounces back and reminds the Bears why the brought him in. Stromberg is a big dude that hopefully develop into a starter he has experience at guard and center.

I like what you’re thinking as far as weapons go. You went Saquon over Bijan so you could get the sky is the limit JSN. Okay. He has me worried, but I get it.

I don’t see Skoronski as a T in the league. I think, especially when his arms are finally measured, he’s going to be an all pro IOL. Nothing wrong with that. Let him play C or beat out Whitehair.

I’ve really been looking at LB, but haven’t spent time on Sewell. I will. You and I are on the same page with a bigger WLB with athletic upside that can rush. I’ve also been leaning towards a big safety, JL Skinner, in this role. Either way, we agree in principle, just differ on players. It’s all good.

You know I like Duece Vaughn in the fifth over the kid from UCLA. I think Vaughn’s, pound for pound, the second best RB in the draft, and may have the best hands. I get why you like the kid, but Vaughn is an outlier. I know, his size…

Mikel Jones is a gamer who will start on ST right away and may work his way onto the field. I love that dude. His issue is his size. The 7th isn’t a stretch for him. Daiyan Henry is a dude in his mold that I like in the 7th, as well.

A lot to like. We are on the same page.

Thanks! My next mock will come after the bowls and before the all star game. At least, that’s my plan.

I think the Bears should target a QB needy team that has a top WR or DT that can be included as part of the trade down. Go after the Jets and ask for Williams or Wilson to be part of the deal.

The Colts have Pittman and Buckner.

Atlanta has Drake London and Pitts (basically a large WR).

Tell the Titans you want Burks or Simmons.

Carolina has DJ Moore.

The Bears could still demand a huge draft pick haul too.

You don’t get a DT in FA and you wait till the 5th round to get one? That would be fuckin stupid.

It would be if I didn't get Dre'Mont Jones who's playing the Aaron Donald 3-technique role for the Broncos.

Denver defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero has Jones playing the “Aaron Donald position.”
“It’s an honor to kind of represent somebody who has been so great for this game for the past 9 years,’’ Jones said of Donald. “It’s a privilege to try and resemble that. I appreciate the coach believing in me and seeing something in me that resembles anything with him. It’s cool.”
The Aaron Donald position?
“Just moving around,’’ Jones said. “I don’t want to get too much into details but it’s about doing different things. Just a very unique 3-technique.’’
Jones played like the great Rams’ defensive tackle

I like most of this but don't want to pay Barkley $50MM, he's hurt too much and I'd keep Monty, Herbert etc. Take a RB in mid rounds, but not bad effort. I'm really starting to like Carter in the draft & Hargrave in Fa moves.

Then label him a DT. He’s a DE in their system but wouldn’t be in the Bears.

And how bout just sign the much better DT in Payne?

Either one would be awesome.

I like that idea as well reunite Fields with Olave would be amazing. I just don't see any teams doing it unless a QB is on an overpriced deal.

DK Metcalf would be nice.

Would rather have Pocic than mcGlinchy. The Ohio st. OT over Skoronski. Draft a DE like Murphy with first pick since you forgot edge rusher. 2nd round draft tackle or G.
