I haven't heard any here yet. But when they are, that shit is deafening. Don't they go through cycles or dormancy or something?

There a many different broods. I think I heard this one is the 17 year swarm.

No Cicada's here. I think it's only along the East coast for this brood

They are all over south-central Indiana. They are prevalent in areas that have not been torn up for development in the last 17 years. We have a very old park and neighborhood right behind us. The front of our house/condo has very few of them the back yard is quite infested.

Oh good, I was afraid this wasn't happening as expected. I knew Maryland was supposed to be the epicenter of this years hatch, but haven't seen any at all in New England.

I do remember a soccer game in my youth, probably 34 years ago, south of Chicago, where we were playing in a swarm. You couldn't run without smacking into some and they coated the fencing around the field entirely.

All the "gross" kids walked around eating them raw that month of summer.

This past week they got pretty bad. On the highway, my windshield fucking murdered at least 5000.
They are large enough to where you see them hovering as you plow into them. I shit you not,I refilled my windshield fluid twice in ten days.
