38 years ago today, at 12:34 pm, Airman Basic Robert S. Klem was summonded to the commander's office. That is never a good thing.

The Major sat me down and told me of the passing of the one person who totally, unconditionally, and absolutely believed in me.

In her 17 years, she gave back so much to the world, as she was one of the first kidney transplant patients in North America.

Because of her sacrifices, kidney transplants are almost routine, as I've seen firsthand through my son and his surgeries..

She is my hero and inspiration in life, to the point that I was jealous of what she had given back to the world.

If you feel a touch out of nowhere today, she just touched you and thanked you for being part of my world.

Because of people like her and so many others that have been pioneers in medical breakthroughs, so many lives have been saved or extended. I just had to renew my driver's license and I signed up to be an organ donor with the hope that is something happens to me a part of me can help someone else and save someone else's family the heartbreak of losing a loved one. I assume she was your sister and know that she is touched by your fond loving remembrance of her.

Yes, she is my younger sister.

She is the "C" in the "CBRS" on my mask, and the 10.25 is part of the reason I wear #35.

It's in memory of her and some other very special people in my world.

I know a strong little girl who has had 2 so far in her young life. Her mother is one of the strongest women I have seen when faced with such a situation and continues to show her little girl that giving up is not an option. Thanks to your sister, these operations can continue to let people enjoy life.

Klem I don't mean to sound insensitive but might I ask how did she pass? Feel free to not answer and call me an asshole

17 years old?

Wow... don't even know the back story of this but the fact that she died at that age really hit me.

RIP

Klemmer you went through more than I can think of and yet still came out a strong person... you have my respect for that.

3 weeks after I was in basic, her kidney started rejecting.

During surgery for that, she had a stroke and heart attack ..

I am thankful for that. seeing her as a vegetable would've devastating to me.

I wish you and he the best, my friend.

As I do you and your friend, my friend.

He and his lovely wife, Jamie presented me with my first grandchild, Abbie 3 years ago, and are expecting their second child in late May/early June. They are planning on traveling to Rockford for the game.

Kind of eery but my mom was born on 9/26/56, passed on 11/9/01. Same thoughts as you Klem, when I'm finally out of college after this year and have time and hopefully money I'll be present at your games. I would love to be there this year but I don't wanna be the eh-hole who commits and then can't show. I'm with you on **** Cancer though, even though I'm getting real sick of kids wearing "I <3 boobies" as some sort of trend.
