Rotating a lot of guys through that #6 spot. TVR was easily the best...mostly because you barely noticed him out on the ice - the perfect compliment of a #6 guy usually. Dahlbeck is known as more of a defensive dman who is working on his offensive game since coming to North America. Hopefully he can impress.

On a related #6 dman note...sort of surprised that the Blackhawks haven't taken a look at Brookbank (who last time I checked was still a UFA). He actually played pretty damn good at the end of the season - made the safe play, added some toughness, and was barely noticed out on the ice. Have to believe it is because the Blackhawks don't want to give up on Rundblad after trading away assets for him less than a year ago.

Did Brookbank sign with the KHL?, I thought I read he was going or did go. I know that when Rundblad and T-Roz, or Clendening and T-Roz were on the ice together, I would be a little nervous. Hopefully Dahlbeck can make the most of this chance, and stick give us some stability at that 6th D Man spot, until TVR comes back.

Nice call - he signed about a month ago. Usually there may be an out clause though for a player like Brookbank if the NHL comes calling - mostly because the KHL wouldn't really miss him. Last I saw before looking that up, he was in camp with the Chicago Wolves.

I don't see how the Hawks could afford to add anyone to this roster, though. Even a vet minimum deal for a guy like Brookbank.

Clendening and Dahlbeck both have a higher cap hit than a vet minimum deal, so it is possible that the Blackhawks would be able to get a vet like Brookbank for the #6 spot. I don't see it happening though with TVR coming back before the year ends and with Rundblad getting as many opportunities as possible. Someone is going to have to step up. I'm still sort of surprised that Cumiskey hasn't gotten a shot - I have only seen him a couple of times this year but he has some real nice speed and I thought he played very well in camp. I don't know what is going to happen...just hope that the #6 position gets better because that is going to help shoulder the load a little. I think Rundblad had around 7 minutes of ice time last night - where last year the #6 guy averaged about 16 minutes a night and Brookbank (when in) averaged about 13 minutes a night.

TVR was an absolute blessing to this team. They are pretty thin on defense with him being laid up. Sorry, but I just don't see what Rundblad brings to the table. While TVR was virtually unnoticeable....you notice Rundblad on almost every shift because the Hawks are usually scrambling when he's out there. I don't believe I've seen Dahlbeck play but if he's a defensive type of dman...maybe that's the road they should take at this point. Let the other guys worry about scoring.

Dahlbeck is pretty sound defensively.

Seen him last year at Allstate vs the Wolves, he was easily their best overall d-man.

It seems kinda forgotten with how well TVR played out of the blue, This was kinda expected to be the norm of the year. Having Dalhbeck, Clendening, or Johns rotating around the Rockford train to get playing time in the NHL and competing to be a NHL contributor. It just got set back from what was expected to occur. I don't think re-adding Brookbank helps the team, as they are going to need some play by these guys when it comes to it later and in the upcoming seasons.

At least now with a defensive D-man on the roster, they can give Rozy days off since he can't stay manageable playing too much. I doubt Q would play Runblad-Dahlbeck besides eachother but he had a Runblad-Oduya pairing early this season that can be returned to.

Watching his bro James and seeing footage of Trevor's minor hockey days, the day we got TVR I knew he was going to be special. First off, they made each other better growing up and it's fitting that one is a F and the other is D. Second, as with James TVR has a good body structure that fits the hockey mold. Third, when one brother is good their siblings tend to be on a similar level of playing skill. Although he doesn't play here, I'm waiting to see what Malcolm Subban can do; although a skater, like his bro P.K, cannot compare to a goalie, that guys ceiling is higher than some think. Brotherly Love Brahs! It wins

Partly because 5 is mainly an offense first type of defenseman and probably what the need in that slot (especially with 32 -as he has lost a lot even since coming to the Hawks) is a defense first type of guy. I really liked 57 as he was pretty calm an collected even more so considering he was a free agent signee out of unit and was a rookie in the NHL.

I love the Trib's video for Dahlbeck... 8 seconds of cliche ... makes you wonder why they even bothered lmao.

On another note- Dahlbeck looked pretty good from what I saw -but I only tuned in for the second half of the second period - looked relatively solid defensively.

I agree. Just need a guy to play positional hockey as 5 and 6 generally play less than 1 though 4. Hawks don't need him to go Bobby Orr on anyone, just need him to stay in position and play some D.

BTW, glad you're back bud.
