What does everyone think of Del Negro's first year as Bulls head coach? Anyone impressed? Disappointed? Hopeful for the future?

Though he appeared lost a time or two last year i was primarily impressed with the way he coached and how he conducted himself all year long. I mean, this guy was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. He played many years in the league and in Italy. He's gotta know a thing or two about the game of basketball, right?

How many years would you like to see ole' Vinny remain at the helms?

In the beginning of the season he was kind of lost because he is a rookie coach with a rookie point gurad Derrick Rose and he had a young team and they still had Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden
but then after the Salmons-Miller trade he started to kind of know his role or something and they gave the team some veternan leadership and that's what made them get that 7th seed in the eastern conference and i expect them to get maybe the 5th or the 4th seed next season.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  2. Golden State Warriors
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
To me, he didn't seem to totally understand how to run the team until after the trade for Miller and Salmons. But considering all the players he had to deal with before hand (guard glut and Gooden/Hughes) I don't think he did that bad of a job before the trade. The only beef I have with him is the whole time out thing. Oh and he needs to figure out how to use Deng in some way otherwise he's going to be an albatross (similar to this year and last).

What drove me crazy was that he always had no timeouts left at the end of tight games.

And he should improve his interviews. I don´t know why but he is not able to look into the camera. He looks to the ground every time. So he seems to be unsure.

But overall I think he did a good job in his first year.

I´m looking forward to the next season.

Oh yeah and he sometimes is very very funny.

I think he did fine last year considering the team didn't start out in great shape balance-wise, he had no head coaching experience, and was dealing with a brand new staff. I don't fault Vinny for the no-experience thing, because the Bulls hired him with that knowledge. He did seem to make some progress as the season went on, the team improved and made the playoffs, and played pretty well in the playoffs, so I think he earned the right to coach a second season.

That said, there's a lot I want to see from him this year before I get excited about a future of Coach VDN. Can he manage the rotation and PT when he has more than 7 guys deserving of minutes? Will the defense improve? Giving him the benefit of the doubt that there is more to his offensive scheme, can he teach it to the players? Can he reign in the team's tendency to stop moving the ball and reverting to one-on-one, my-turn-your-turn, at the end of close games? Can he find a way to avoid the typical slow start? I don't so much doubt he can do these things as need to see that he can. As far as I'm concerned right now, it's his job to win or lose, but he still needs to win it.

VDN did an admirable job in his 1st year, I would like to see him get more creative at both ends of the court, like running the pick-n-roll or pop w/ Rose & Gordon(if signed), hes has to learn how to exploit match ups

I am afraid of the lack of defense on this team since he took over. That is my only concern at this time.

I think he did an ok job as the year went on. I like that by the end of the year he had a consistent 7-8 man rotation that played and knew they were going to play. I also think he freed up the offense a bit from the last couple of coaches and let players do what they wanted a little more and not run countless plays. On the downside, we need more set plays outside of the pick and rolls, more efficent timeout management and the defense is horrible. I mean really, there is too much switching and it really gets everyone out of place for rebounds. I think he did an ok job considering he had a rookie pg and nothing much in the front court. I think if he can improve the defensive schemes, timeouts and work in something more than one on one and pick and rolls in the offense he will be ok. But just not having someone to over think everything was good.
