greatest college coach ever...and would probably be the greatest NBA coach ever if he cared enough about the NBA to turn a team around...

^Agreed...by the end of his career he will have 1000 wins,5 titles,12+ ACC titles,countless other awards and achievements

i mean 5 titles is the 2nd most to only Wooden, who yes is an absolutely legendary coach,but played in a different era where players stayed at school longer and the NCAA tourney was less games(also Sam Gilbert but i wont get into that)

With what he has accomplished and may still accomplish in the modern era is pretty incredible...and I think he is the GOAT college coach


Also Coach K is a class act......trust me I've heard alot of stories...in fact one story that comes to mind for me was back in 1992 after THE SHOT....K went up to an anguished UK player and said something along the lines of "Hey you didn't lose tonight,there were no losers in this game tonight"....IIRC

But that doesnt mean he will take crap...he can get pretty fired up...that's why i love him

He's a great college coach.. But how in the hell can you say he'd be the greatest NBA Coach ever???

Don't even mention Coach K with Red Auerbach..... ever.

K is a pretty damn good basketball...but NBA and NCAA are apples and oranges...they're two different leagues completely...the NBA is more player oriented than the coach...you got the right players...then even a mediocre coach can win a title....

College is based a little more on coaching imo..because it involves developing players more and also recruiting,which is a HUGE part of coaching...why the heck do you think Cal has such good records? The speed of the game is different and there are billions of other factors

Im not necessarily implying that if you're a great college coach, then you're better than a great NBA coach, or vice versa

It's just hard to compare the two


Obviously you can make the argument that K can handle NBA players and knows how to make them win gold as evident in these championships and the olympics...although there's is also the other side of the arguement because K has a fantastic talent pool to work with..


I have seen what K can do for years...and i think he one of the best ever at coaching basketball in general...so yes I do think it's right to compare him to Red.....another point i'd like to make is that Red Auerbach coached back in the 60s and had Cousy,Havlicek(partly),and Bill freaking Russell.Doesnt mean Auerbach isnt one of the greatest NBA coaches of all time...he is...but saying K shouldnt be mentioned with Auerbach doesnt make sense.....both are two of the best ever....and also do we know how good Auerbach would be at college coaching?
