Seabrook had an awful start to the season but over the last 8 or so games he has been really solid. Duncan Keith is the one making poor turnovers. Seabrook defiantly could make better decisions in the offensive zone but for the most part he has been good at keeping the play in and good at chipping pucks down low, also has jumped into the play but he does it at the right times.

I think after his lazy start someone reminded him he is in a contract year.

Due for a new contract. Much like the Sox (pitching), we'll have too much money tied up in d-men.

I think we need to keep Seabrook, he has a pretty rare skill set. Big and physical yet also is a good skater and has above average hands. The problem is once we lock Seabrook up then there is never ice time for Leddy, Lalonde, Olsen, Connelly, or Vishnevskiy when they are ready to come up of the next few seasons because we will have long term investments in Keith, Seabs, Hammer, and Soupy. Hammer and Soupy are untradable right now... we would never move Keith because he has a cap friendly deal... and we need Seabrook because of his size.

We need to package some of these young guys and improve in net, maybe get a good power forward to give us better net presence.

Dylan Olsen
Nick Leddy
Shawn Lalonde
Ivan Vishnevskiy

A good chance we deal one or two of these guys IMO.

I really like Yandle, but he will be an RFA and Phoenix would match most offer sheets for him. He also is a puck moving offensive minded defensemen, we have enough of those.

No way I trade Nick Leddy or Dylan Olsen but I would package Lalonde, Connelly and Vishnevskiy for a goaltender or a power forward right now.

Lack of goaltending depth in the system is a concern.

Package with what roster players, and then after picking those out how much cap room does that get you- and then what players in that price range (or combination of players) that fit your criteria are out there?

It seems like packaging prospects will get you prospects back right at the moment since there isn't that cap flexibility present.
