And...he's not taking this job.
So....he might not believe in Caleb all that much.
Then he isn’t the guy they should hire.

They are not a poor fit if he values having a say in who his GM is above other things. Here's the issue with that.
Ever since his first year with the Lions, Ben has been a hot name. Other teams have tried just throwing money at him. He stayed in Detroit.
Ben's camp has made it CLEAR he is not leaving for a money grab. It has to be the right situation. If that still holds true, and we have no reason to doubt it because Ben's turned teams down left and right the last couple off-seasons, then the Raiders are a poor fit, no matter how much they offer.
If our last 2 options are Anthony Weaver and David Shaw for H.C, which of these HC/OC combos could you find most tolerable.
a)Weaver/Eric Studesville(MIA ASST.HC/RB COACH)
b)Shaw/Pete Carmichael Jr.(Den. Sr. Offensive Asst.)
c)Shaw/ Pep Hamilton(OC at Stanford under Shaw)
d)Weaver/Anthony Lynn( WASH- Asst. HC-run game coordinator. Was with Weaver on 2012 Jets staff)
e)Weaver/Darrell Bevell(current MIA OC)
If I had to choose I would take (b) or (e).
I agree with you on that he needs ti go out and earn the right to have any control of personnel. Also that the Jones’s will always have full control in Dallas.Again it’s roster vs control. He has to make that choice. If he is smart he will realize if he wins he will get control (Chicago), go earn it. He will never be in control in Dallas, even if he wins 3 Super Bowls.
Stacked enough? Cowboys team isn’t as great as you might think. They aren’t in the same league as Commanders and Eagles. That team needs a lot of work. You have to feel very comfortable with Prescott who is very overrated.Yeah, but control won’t mean much of anything in Vegas or Jacksonville with those 2 orgs being horse****. In Dallas, your team is pretty much stacked enough every year to at least compete, player management by committee or not.
They could just franchise tag him. They’re going to have to open the checkbook for Darnold.
Plenty of desperate teams in the NFL. It’s not likely that Minnesota will be the highest bidder, and Darnold could see this as his actual payday opportunity.
I doubt Darnold is back with Minnesota.
They could, but that would require them to use over half of their available cap space (over $38 million) when they just spent first round assets on a guy who's riding the bench for multiple years. They could just franchise tag him.
There's nothing in this world I want more right now than for Deon Sanders to coach the cowboys and the Raiders to draft his son

That would be a train wreck; They should go ahead and do that.

Would it though? Mahomes, Love, Rodgers... We've seen the sitting for a year or two to be a good thing when you have a good QB in front. With Darnold playing well, you don't have that pressure to start the kid that most bad teams have. Plus, Darnold could get injured. It's a no brainer imo. They could, but that would require them to use over half of their available cap space (over $38 million) when they just spent first round assets on a guy who's riding the bench for multiple years.
It would go against what I think most people would do, but who knows---You're right, they could do that.
That would be insane. Also it would set the market for new top HCs...

Daniels and Maye were just guys that weren't Caleb Williams at this time last year and both the Commanders and Patriots were afterthoughts, bad teams that were a long way from being anything relevant. He could have had Daniels or Maye last year. The right situation for him is control not roster. I think that’s logical to assume at this point. If the Bears want back in Poles needs to give roster control over, doubt he wants to do that.
So he’s the “new” Lewis because of recent playoff record? Not his overall playoff record just the last couple years?
The Steelers roster has been bad for years. They were the worst 10 win team in history. Tomlin should be praised for getting them this far. His teams over achieve thanks to him. The GM should be felling the heat
