Well you don't know how McCarthy would do until after DUH!!

Fox was a Super Bowl veteran coach who knew how to run a team and could put together a good staff. It's very similar. I think McCarthy is better, but it's very similar.

Lovie's tenure was something of an anomaly here. I don't really see McCarthy and Lovie as all that similar. But yes, you are just trying to emphasize that McCarthy is the safer pick with the lower ceiling, we get it. No need for inappropriate comparisons.

I mean... we're all just speculating. No one knows how ANY of these guys would do. McCarthy seems like the safest bet but could be the next John Fox. Petzig allegedly had a terrible interview, but he could be the next Bill Walsh. We're ALL guessing here.

It just seems to me McCarthy is someone I would be like "Ok, at least I can enjoy a regular season with him at the helm", but when it gets to the playoffs, I'll just be waiting for the other shoe to drop, routine exists in round 1 or round 2, and fans in Chicago screaming to replace him because he is too conservative a play caller.

I could be completely wrong. He could be the next Andy Reid and Caleb Williams could be the difference. I would have worried about the same things with Andy Reid straight out of Philly.

Even with the limitations I see with McCarthy though, he still is in my top 3.

Carroll doesn’t seem to be getting much love.

170-120 record as HC, likes to be aggressive, definitely a ‘leader of men’. Johnson is my first choice due to the potential link with Caleb, age and offensive mind. But Carroll would be a strong contender for me if we failed with BJ. He is a winner and his energy belies his age.

Culture would be changed and he’d take no shit.

The choice rn should be Johnson or monken. My interest level is tied to both of them. After that I guess McCarthy or Carrol as meh as it would be can’t be worse than the tards George usually parades around town. If they can trade for tomlin and doesn’t cost arm and a leg that’s the grand slam imo. Other than these options might as well not even watch next year

Operating under the assumption Tomlin is not available. If he were available that’s a game changer to me.

Unless you were alive in the 1980s we have never witnessed a Bears team that routinely loses in the playoffs, we can’t even get there!

Personally if in 3 years we have a top 10 QB and our main problem is winning in the playoffs I’ll consider this a success. You can then bet the next hire will be whomever they want.

We all want to be the Chiefs. Let’s learn to walk then maybe we can talk about running.

If rumors are to be believed, while he had a good plan for Caleb, who he wanted on his staff was apparently grossly underwhelming.

There are a few candidates that if chosen, and things don’t work out, I wouldn’t blame McCaskey, Warren or Poles. I would understand the hire and giving it a shot. They are: Johnson, Monken, Brady, or McCarthy.

He is and i'v heard Spytek as well.
Spytek is Brady's guy for GM as they were college teammates and Spytek was key in bringing Brady to TB.

Think you are confusing the Raiders reporter saying Spytek and Johnson would be a drean scneario and that Spytek was in Detroit with his being a Johnson guy.

Spytek was an intern in Detroit in 2004 long before Johnson coached there and while Johnson was at BC when Poles played there.

Of course, any year you make the playoffs and don’t win the superbowl, you will have a playoff loss…

Of course - but you see, there's this thing called being GOOD.

And when a team is GOOD, they tend to have MORE playoff WINS than LOSSES. That's usually because they advance to the championship game a lot.

Still with me, smart ass?

Hope so, because the goal, to be considered a good coach, is to lead your team to MORE playoff wins than losses.

Hope that clears things up, idiot.

Not really. Spent one year in Detroit in 2004 and never overlapped with Johnson. The Raiders reporter just presumed he and Ben would be good fits with with each other as they are both beta nerds.
Spytek is a Brady guy from their time together in Tampa. Johnson doesn't have a connection with him
