The 76ers dropped a difficult 110-105 loss in overtime to the Thunder on Wednesday.

Doug Collins sees the success of Oklahoma City as a model to use for their club.

"That's a damn good team," Collins said. "I want to use that as a blueprint for us. I want us to build like Oklahoma City has built. They built through the draft. Their younger players have gotten better. That's what I want us to continue to do ... We think we have some good, young pieces. The difference they have right now is they have that shot-blocking in the lane."

He doesn't say that he wants the team to rebuild, but that seems to be the implication. He's not going to rebuild the way the thunder did, without some high level draft picks.

The 76ers definitely will need to aim to rebuild by the time Elton Brand's contract expires in about 3 years. They are a solid team but they have a lot of flaws and their best front-court player is old and has some wear-and-tear on his body (Brand).

Fine Doug, we'll help you out in the off-season. GarPax can trade Scal for Iggy! Lol

I like Collins & what he has planned for them though. Things should work out in Philly for him.

I agree with him. Philly has embraced mediocrity. The brand plan didn't work out. time for something new. They're lacking a pg and a center, and they have no cap space.

On the other hand, they're the 6th/7th seed. I was talking to mark about this yesterday, rebuilding sucks for both the fan base and the owners. Fans don't want to watch that, and owners don't like loosing that much money for the prospect of getting better in the indeterminate future. For Every lucky clippers teams, there are quite a few unlucky teams.
