My Computer DVD Drive can't recognize Burnt DVDs or Blank DVD's anymore.

The Drive can still recognize regular DVDs and CDs. It can Burn CD's as well.

Just can't Recognize my Burnt DVDs or Blank/Burnable DVDs.

What could be the problem?

It worked a month ago or so, not now.

Then save up $20 to buy one. It'll be worth your effort.

Turn off your computer open up the case and check if the cables that connect the DVD drive to the motherboard are loose, if they are not loose then something is wrong with the DVD drive. It isn't worth trying to get it repaired you can get a new one for $20 or you cam get an upgrade and get a Blu Ray drive for about $60 if your computer supports it.

I did look inside...disconnected all cables/re-attached. Drive is done I guess.

I can watch regular DVDs, CD, and even Burn CDs.

It just won't recognize Burnt DVDs and blank DVDs

Did you check to see if your drives firmware is up to date? This can sometimes fix old issues with shoddy capabilities and media.

Also, make sure you don't have a driver installed that is over-riding manufacturer drivers with a macrovision enabled driver. Some Burner software does this.

Went to dells support site.

Entered my service tag and the site gave me some urgent and recommend driver updates. It did in include a firmware update for my DVD drive...

downloaded all updates/installed them, and drive still doesnt recognize burnt dvds:(

For the most part, Dell uses shitty rebranded lite-on drives. Funny creatures, as they will work forever, but they wont work correctly.

Yep.

Before you buy a new drive, make sure you know whether or not it's IDE or SATA. If you buy a SATA drive, but your existing drive is IDE, you'll need a cable for it, and another sata input on your motherboard. Also check and make sure you have the sata15 pin power connector too.

IDE is that ribbon-like grey cable with a rectangle connection, and a 4-pin molex. SATA is a 7 pin flat connector with a slim/flat cable. Some Optical drives have both power cable fittings, and retail marked boxes have the cables. OEM or tray items will just come with the bare drive.
