This stuff freaks me out too. I heard that these were created by doctors over prescribing anti-biotics to people for minor stuff. Luckily they don't do it as much anymore. So hopefully we can stop these.

That, as I've heard, is part of the story. It's also the doctors prescribing them to patients that whine, *****, and complain that they need antibiotics for everything, including viral infections (Basic Healthcare 101 will tell you that the use of antibiotics are are usueless against viruses as fake tits are to zombies).

What can I say...everyone is a slave to the almighty dollar.

It's partly, but it's more so in 3rd world countries where these antibiotics are available over the counter and cost next to nothing. It's almost consumed like vitamins in some countries. Many of these superbugs are coming from these areas. India being one of the biggest because they have terrible sanitation and huge over consumption of antibiotics.

MRSA and C. Dif are two of the big ones in the US that are usually hospital acquired bugs. You don't generally get those infections until you've been to the hospital for something.

Another problem in the US is the pretreating of livestock with antibiotics. Farmers give livetstock antibiotics indiscriminately. It's creating problems.

People are idiots. Granted I wouldn't say its common knowledge thats taught to you in primary school. I never knew antibiotics were useless against viral infections until my first college level biology class, add on top of that I didn't know overuse of antibiotics added to the ability of bacteria to become immune to them. My Biology professor had a real beef about that too, it consumed like half a semester. Then (although that was almost 10 years ago now) the prof mentioned we only had one antibiotic that could kill just about any bacterial infection, by now for all I know that might not be the case anymore.

MRSA has jumped to a community acquired infection at this point. Vast majority of patients with MRSA have recurrent boils.
