I had this thought after we won the two at home against the blues and the wild were hanging tough as next opponent. I don't want to get cocky, tonight is a tough tough game, but when we won 4 in a row against the Blues and drew the Wild I couldn't help asking questions. Because the Kings would give us home ice again I believe it sets up an interesting scenario....

the playoff wins record combining two seasons or two years is 14 from Pittsburgh back in the Lemauix youth days, and thats probably untouchable, on this current streak we are at 6 and I mention it and thought it at game 2 because the schedule shapes up nice for 10 before things get tough tough, obviously the game 5 win at St.Louis was tough tough caliber. The Wild can beat us for sure, no playoff game is easy, but for this team it shouldn't be a surprise is we sweep.

Obviously the win on the road against the Blues means of those 6 only 1 was on road. While the next two are unlikely, I do believe the Wild are an inferior opponent and there is a chance we keep the streak to 8. I'm rooting for that tonight, tonight is the key.

If we draw the Kings I have to believe we have a decent shot also at holding home serve, which would be 10.

10 is one short of our own Chicago Blackhawk record of 11 in a row in a single playoff, if all goes according to miraculous we could have a chance to play for 11 @L.A.

One other intersting thing to this years playoffs, is we could face the Kings in chicago in an eastern conference finals, and I wonder if both teams have ever arrived on 8 game win streaks before? doubtful

these things aren't important, but when you have young stars and 2 championships already, its really just about honoring the sport, and sport in general, and building dynasty credentials.

For a team like the Blackhawks, a little 10 game win streak in playoffs is just a feather in the cap of the argument for greatest team ever. If you add enough feathers it really starts to build a case that these accomplishiments are historic and special.

The Kings are currently on a 6 game streak of their own.

I don't think it's a stretch at all to say that we're in the golden era of Chicago Blackhawks hockey right now. As these years go on it's going to be real interesting to see how many things this group accomplishes.

Like I said in the other thread...no worries. :)

Wild have too much talent to get swept...they'll take a game or 2.

I wrote an article for this website declaring the Hawks the next great NHL dynasty after their first Cup win. No worries.

Hopefully we can still take it in 5. Really want to see the Ducks put up a fight against the Kings and push that series to at least 6 or 7. Idk though the way the Kings are playing heading home

Really no idea what to make of those west coast teams. The Kings looked so, so bad in the first two games of the Sharks series and they've been going crazy ever since. I'm not convinced that Anaheim is dead, either.

For greatest team ever we need to be even better than we have been in the regular season. The best team of all time should surely finish higher than 3rd in a division (I get the whole cruising thing, but when this is looked at in retrospect...)

Didn't we have the best record in the shortened season? Yes......ideally we would win the presidents trophy every year, but if we win the 2014 cup we become a top 3 team since 1970 immediately. no argument can really be made against it once we have 3 and two in a row and defended the title in a full season. Nobody can really take anything off us at that point, I maintain that they can't now but stupid fans will be stupid and Boston fans still think they are the best in the league despite being incapable of playing through series against certain matchups.

IMO, Boston won't get past Montreal Canadiens for the same reasons they lost to us last year. They are even better and would probably dismantle Pittsburgh, but Pitt might get lucky and not have to play them.

Consolation prize? The Kings or Blackhawks who are both elite teams who have done remarkable things. A couple of those Kings guys have now come back from 3-0 twice, and that type of statistical anamoly doesn't usually just happon to a random lucky team. Carter doesn't have horseshoes in his butt, he is just really good.

Toews meanwhile is the best competitor pound for pound in hockey. We have the Jordanesque spirit on our team and I'll take that everytime. Combine that with a stocked roster with deep scoring talent like Saad and Sharp as afterthoughts, plus enforcers like Bickell and Seabrooke to keep the bully teams honest, and then specialty players like....

Keith and Kane. I mean, Keith and Kane are really the ideal double wammy. A pure goal scorer, and a pure goal eraser, two of the best to have ever done it and we have them both. Add in a leader like Toews, an international veteran of the caliber of Hossa, and a streaky goalie who can suck or be a hero on any given night and you can see why we are the most entertaining team in hockey, I think people in other cities forget that Toews is our heart beat and he has champion blood flowing through the entire roster.

We never quit, we never take anything for granted, they just play the right way and so while I expect good things I realize the impossible task of winning the Cup. We have come so far, and while the Wild are talented they aren't good enough that I think they belong with the rest of the teams still left.

I think he's talking more about the Hawks overall body of work than just this regular season. Win a few more Cups and that's a conversation I'll be starting in this here forum.

I would think we could openly discuss it with one more? They are already in the conversation imo, of one of the greatest squads ever. They won a cup with two different goalies and are like 26 years old.

Two in a row in the NHL puts you into a conversation of 3 teams since 1980 I think? Including whoever does it next. But having that bookend with the Niemi cup would put us in an even higher conversation at that point. I do think 3 cups makes us the most dominate team of modern era over a 5 year period.

I don't expect to win this year, but I expect to enjoy every game until someone has the fortitude and skill to knock us out, I know whoever that is will have earned it and will likely remember that series as one of the greatest they ever played in.

Had Detroit won game 7 last year I would expect them to at least honor our memory? right? I think we respect some of the teams we knocked out over the last 5 years and certainly that Blues series will be remembered even though it ended 4-2, it was one of the closer series I have ever seen and we HAD to win game 6 to avoid going back there. They had us every bit on the brink as Detroit did last year, and I keep watching just to see who can put us on the brink because this teams true pedigry doesn't even come out until you rise to their highest level.

Only when faced with elimination do I ever witness the full majesty of our attacking force, usually in a third period when trailing in a must win game.

That Hawks team that comes out, when all hope is lost.....thats the team I watch this thing and invest my time in the hope of seeing again, its the true measure of a championship heart and the sole reason I do think we can win another over the next 5 years. Obviously doing so is incredible and impossible and its just a dream, but I do believe I see character traits that this team is one of the greatest ensembles across the entire spots world over the last 30 years.

Its special and we are very lucky to be witnessing it.
