Looking at this joke of a team and considering everything. Getsy, Waldron performances as OC, etc. Fields wasn't as bad as everyone thought, and Williams is not as good as everyone thought as well.
For me quality coaching is as important as talent on the squad..

Eberflus proving once again that he is way over his head..

Too early to judge Williams especially when it looks like is line is as bad what many here predicted. They are a ~.500 team in one of the toughest division in football. The coach is not the answer. The QB will likely be on his second OC in his second year. The Bears are about to repeat their errors with the QB position. Again.

The Bears consistently hire bad OCs - that's nothing new.

Both JF & CW may not be quality NFL starters - it happens. We may be the new Cleveland Browns.

Hopefully not...

On the 10th of November I will be 71 years old, I have been watching this team since my late teens, and, besides two brief periods in the 80s and during the Lovie Smith years, this has been how this franchise has been run. George Halas is portrayed as some great HC/owner which is a myth, and the McCaskeys are a fucking joke.
i haven’t quit being a Bear fan, I just give just as much of a **** about them winning as the McCaskeys do. I switch to other games when they’re putrid like they were yesterday.
this team will never improve as long as they own the team. Get use to it.

I'm 46 and realize this now. They're cheap, penny-pinching owners who care more about relationships than placing a winning product on the field for the fans. I guess that's what happens when you don't work an actual job and inherited an NFL franchise.

I’ve said it for years now, the bears only chance is getting lucky. They got lucky with the Carolina trade. They got lucky getting that first #1 in the first place.

Imagine having ownership that’s been involved and around football for 100 years and they probably know less than the guy making helmet nachos.

Maybe try watching the whole game? If we didn't have half assed fans maybe we'd be better?

Team is a joke, Flus should of been fired at the end of last year.. in fact he never should of been hired in the first place. The fact that George was interviewing him BEFORE they hired Poles is a joke.

But disagree on Fields, he went to a better coached team and he was demoted to a backup QB. That's pretty much how most people viewed him at the end of last year.

You think if people watched the whole game it would make a difference?? lol, that's a good one.

This fan base is as dedicated to a team as any fan base in any sport, they have bitching about this ownership for 3+ decades and the owners turn their heads, walk away, and repeat the same stupidity that they only know.

Well maybe if we were like Chiefs fans, we'd win more. I'd say Chiefs fans are the best. That's why they win.

Come on, when this team was losing 12-13 games in a row the stadium was still packed with the teams fans.

There was that one year in the 90s when Ron Turner didn't totally suck

I didn't say they weren't stupid. Just not the best.

I think sometimes we as fans can become prisoners of the moment, and lazily just chalk things up to "same old same old" without really looking at things.

Or, if we see something we are familiar with, we can overreact and want to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

What am I getting at?

The coaching staff absolutely needs to go. 10000%.

But I think talk of the Bears "ruining another QB" or "Caleb Williams is another Bears bust" is just hysteria at this point triggered by decades of Bears QB-induced trauma.

If you REALLY take a look at Caleb Williams, he is not the usual stock of failures we've had around here. He has had flashes of great things. He can place the ball into extremely tight windows. He from jump has been commanding the offense and doing things other former NFL QBs have pointed out a lot of QBs still aren't doing in year THREE of being in the league. And he is doing this as a rookie with just 8 starts under his belt. He's going to make mistakes.

I also think this talk of Poles needing to go is a bit premature. Most GMs get 2 head coaches. Poles has given us a team that, aside from the offensive line, has a lot of talent and should be ahead of where they are now currently with better coaching. Remember that our ownership interviewed Matt Eberflus BEFORE hiring Poles. Any talk of them being joined at the hip likely is overstated, but there likely was some ownership pressure to retain Matt - and Poles would have to in that situation say he and Matt are in sync.

To me, it's obvious the issue is the coaches. If Poles keeps Eberflus past this year, then I think its fair to want to flush the whole thing.

But Eberflus lost the team the past 2 weeks. You don't come back from that.

Just remember we don't need to rebuild or start all over. The team has talent. It just needs better coaching across the board.

I think if McCaskeys forced Eberflus on Poles he will stay. If Poles hired Eberflus on his own he maybe gone as well.

The McCaskeys wanted Eberflus; Poles was only here for two days when Eberflus was hired. There's no way Poles could have properly evaluated him.

But I also wonder how you get so many premium picks and trades and FA signings and are still this bad.

Sorry, but that is false.

Bear fans are nowhere near as dedicated as Cub fans. Cub fans went over 100 years without rooting for a winning championship team while the Bears have won it all in my lifetime (1985). Cub fans as so dedicated that they pull down their own pants, bend over and take it up the hindquarters while Bear fans have been bitching for over 30 years about the team.

I am not saying that Cub fans are acting correctly but rather that they are more dedicated than Bear fans, accepting everything that comes along.
