I think sometimes we as fans can become prisoners of the moment, and lazily just chalk things up to "same old same old" without really looking at things.
Or, if we see something we are familiar with, we can overreact and want to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
What am I getting at?
The coaching staff absolutely needs to go. 10000%.
But I think talk of the Bears "ruining another QB" or "Caleb Williams is another Bears bust" is just hysteria at this point triggered by decades of Bears QB-induced trauma.
If you REALLY take a look at Caleb Williams, he is not the usual stock of failures we've had around here. He has had flashes of great things. He can place the ball into extremely tight windows. He from jump has been commanding the offense and doing things other former NFL QBs have pointed out a lot of QBs still aren't doing in year THREE of being in the league. And he is doing this as a rookie with just 8 starts under his belt. He's going to make mistakes.
I also think this talk of Poles needing to go is a bit premature. Most GMs get 2 head coaches. Poles has given us a team that, aside from the offensive line, has a lot of talent and should be ahead of where they are now currently with better coaching. Remember that our ownership interviewed Matt Eberflus BEFORE hiring Poles. Any talk of them being joined at the hip likely is overstated, but there likely was some ownership pressure to retain Matt - and Poles would have to in that situation say he and Matt are in sync.
To me, it's obvious the issue is the coaches. If Poles keeps Eberflus past this year, then I think its fair to want to flush the whole thing.
But Eberflus lost the team the past 2 weeks. You don't come back from that.
Just remember we don't need to rebuild or start all over. The team has talent. It just needs better coaching across the board.
