Yes, people dont realize how much of the fabric of modern music they were. In the 70s and 80s you couldnt have the raido on for an hour without hearing an Eagles song. The video mentioned they sold 32 million copies of the Hotel Calif album. That's an incredible number even before what was downloaded illegally. They thing for me was their musicianship and how much they practiced and cared about their product

Finally, of my 5 favorite guitarists, 2 of them were Eagles: Joe Walsh and Don Felder

If record sales reflects a bands greatness then ABBA is just as good as the Eagles.

Eagles are fine but they are not even close to innovative or landscape changing when it comes to music. They were pretty generic during a pretty generic radio era. Good for them to sell a lot of albums thats not a bad thing ever that doesnt mean they were groundbreaking.

Shit even don henley once said that the eagles weren't that exciting and missed the mark a lot. I respect don esp for showing some honesty.

I liked the Police better. I know I'll catch a lot for that. But same type of deal really. Some talented guys in their era writing radio friendly catchy stuff. In the Eagles era I prefered Kansas or Boston or Chicago. Any place named band over animal bands. Lol
