Normally, I wouldn't trust the recommendations of any of you nitwits except Ole69, but I thought I would start a thread where we could post new stuff we find. Here is my entry:

It's a sound processor piece of software from a company called Bongiovi. It can be added to PC, Macs or IOS. Brings your speakers or headphones alive along with a power boost with no added distortion. They have about 30 profiles tuned to various headphones for optimal compatibility. You can download from the apple store or their website.

And for your original post, will definitely give it a try. My Sennheiser cans already sound pretty damn good on my MacBook Pro....but if this makes them sound better, I'm all for it.

I have a pair of Etymotic ER4pt that many consider the best headphones under $500. This product makes them even better. I didn't think it was possible. I use these on my iPhone

My wife has a pair Sennheisers that are designed for Speech Pathologists. On my iMac they sound dull and lifeless. I added this peice of software and it did 2 things: brought them to life and I started hearing things I never heard in the song before . More importantly, I just ordered an external Fiio amp for the iMac, but after I installed the software I'm returning the amp unopened. No need for it

It's an amazing peice of sound enhancement software, isn't it? When you start playing with the profiles you will see lots of sound choices. I settled on the Berlin Boombox HIFI

I've had a few of my friends who also collect vinyl and turntables like me rave about this for their digital stuff. I guess I'll give it a whirl with a few of my sets of headphones and see how I like it.

There is a free program for Winamp that does the same thing(from a DSP perspective). Called Enhancer 017. I have a valve/solid state hybrid headphone amp for main listening with EQ, and used the bongiovia, and they do not like each other. Of course, the bg DSP is excellent if you go bare from a codec based chipset to your cans/buds when not using an amp. A hardware amp+eq > software DSP big time, so I never use it. However, Enhancer 017 works like a champ with my amp, and if I want an extra layer, that's what I use. I literally have boxes upon boxes of monitors and "audiophile" high end cans from all of the studio projects over the years. A good DSP EQ will need fine tuning for each driver type, anything that promises to work perfect with all of them out of the box, is limited to a 'safe middle ground' within all product ranges.
