I feel like this won't happen, but I am also bias toward the NASL. However, I dont think your "Can the city support three teams?" argument is valid. Considering the Cosmos are already a team, the City is supporting them as of now. But, a key point is that the Red Bulls don't play in New York, but the Cosmos do. Yes, I know the Red Bulls still cater to the NYC metro area, however, I think actually playing in New York makes some of a difference.

Please, two's enough................

Unless they have a 25,000+ seat stadium in downtown NY and have 20,000+ season ticket holders....

And of course, those would be fans taken away from either NYCFC or NYRB, so it would still not work.

How many people live in New York? 9,000,000+, I think NY Cosmos and NYCFC would be fine. Redbulls have never drawn good...

Ya, there's a lot of people, doesn't mean they all want to watch MLS.

I bet NYCFC will bring in some big names to the team and will draw very good crowds and if Cosmos join the league they will do the same. So both of those teams will draw very good crowds and once they get SSS they will be sold out more offen than not.

In theory, yes, but what happens to the Red Bulls then? Just utterly decimated? Any idea when their lease at RBA ends, or if they are not bound to one?

Redbull paid for the stadium ($200+ million), they are not going anywhere. If they were smart they would of spend a little bit more and got land in downtown New York to build Redbull arena. They are pretty much stuck there.

A kid in my class was talking about this in March. He said it would be great to have them back, and gives soccer a real chance to succeed in America.

Soccer's already succeeded in this country, at least i most markets. Though the NASL team names have been a trend - San Jose Earthqaukes, Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers, Vancouver Whitecaps, etc. - we don't need them to find success, see LA Galaxy, Sporting Kansas City, Philadelphia Union

Not European but also not a knockoff of an old NASL team name...
