But didn't Cairo Santos had like 60 touchbacks before the new kickoff rule took place?! Know in the last two games of the season, Trenton Gill took over kickoffs before he was cut in favor of Taylor. Maybe Santos had some health issues that relieved him from KO duties during the final two games.

Ummm ... do you know that touchbacks are now a bad thing with kickoffs?

To take stress off your field goal kicker’s leg…

Also, Santos is a small guy and could easily get hurt on a return if he’s forced to try to make a tackle.

Taylor is 6’ 4”.

I honestly wasn't upset when they used a draft pick on this guy. More than likely, the pick would've just been a camp body and this punter sounds like the real deal. It'd be great to have an All Pro flipping the field for us and even better if he takes stress off of Santos.

Only problem is Taylor was never used for kickoffs in college.

This is what I was thinking. With the new kickoff rule the kicker is in a weird spot. They’re back there all alone. Santos is a small guy. I’d also worry about him pulling something chasing a guy or something like that. Taylor is big and would hold up better back there.

A bunch of people have been saying there are going to be a lot more kickoff TD’s and just in general guys are going to be breaking a lot more big runs during kickoffs. I’m anxious to see how it plays out, I’m kind of worried it’s going to get ridiculous. I get why they’re doing it, but I’m not sure I want kick returns being such a big part of the game. We’ll see I guess.
