I was reading that Ronaldo was thinking of coming to MLS. I am wondering if the Fire have ANY chance of landing him?

Why wouldn't he just stay in Europe where the money is ridiculous? Or is he trying to expand his brand?

Instead of trolling and adding nothing of value to this thread or subforum... you could actually add to the discussion and try to get some life injected around here.

my bad, that was supposed to be a picture of a soccer ball, don't know what happened.

It would be something to see an MLS team throw a ton of money at some(or all) of the best players in the world, just to give US soccer marketing its best.

But then MLS would go bankrupt, because Americans wouldn't care.

I'll leave it to Jntg4 to give his high MLS- IQ "correct" answer.

I think it is very unlikely he comes to MLS at all. The rumors were that he could come to MLS in 2018 but he would still "only" be around 33. Maybe when he's even older? I don't see him as a guy leaving Europe, I wouldn't if I were him. Even if MLS somehow offered him more money, I still don't think he would, and nor would I. Very unlikely, but you never know. We will see the state of the MLS in 2018, the league seems to be changing every year for the better.

As for him joining the Fire specifically, I'll wait for Firefan2001's answer :)

This was discussed in a different thread not too long ago. If Ronaldo does decide to play in MLS in the future he will go to the Galaxy, LAFC, NYCFC or Miami (If it comes to life). The Fire have absolutely no chance unless out of nowhere a Billionaire buys the club before the 2018 WC.

Would you take Schweinsteiger, Ozil or Klose (did he only retire from international play?) on the Fire?

Germany is my favorite club.

I definitely would even though Klose (He only retired from International play) only has 2 years at best left in the tank IMO. Idk if Schweinsteiger is going to leave Bayern anytime soon, but he would be a great addition to the league. Ozil isn't leaving Arsenal/Europe anytime soon.

The Fire aren't going to sign any high quality DPs with Dollar Menu in charge btw.

And you do realize that MLS had David freaking Beckham, right? It isn't like it would be unprecedented (in a few years anyway, at this point in his career, the closest would be Giovinco or any USMNT returnees, but it is a whole other level).

LAG, LAFC, NYCFC, NY1 (if Red Bull sells), Miami or Toronto.

Hey man... I'm a regular everywhere else on these boards but the Fire forum. I am a huge fan of the World Cup and really only follow Futbol once every 4 years during the World Cup.

Germany is my team... do you think any of the guys from the Cup winning team may try their hand at MLS?

Or is the money just too rich in Europe?

Toronto has the $$$ (Spent it on Bradley, Altidore and Giovinco though) but I don't see the city attracting Ronaldo at all like LA, NY or Miami would.

Too much money and the prestige of playing Champions League football.

Some MLS teams can compete financially, not by their own strength though. If you look at the most valuable sports franchises in the world, for instance, a lot are soccer teams but after you get past Barca, Real and ManU... the biggest teams are all less than a billion dollars, like Chelsea in the 600 millions....

Several MLS teams share owners with franchises bigger than or comparable to that whose owners could dish out some dough.
Atlanta 2017 - Atlanta Falcons
D.C. United - Internazionale (Inter Milan)
New England Revolution - New England Patriots
New York City FC - New York Yankees (20%), Manchester City F.C. (80%)
New York Red Bulls - RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg
Orlando City SC - minority owner of Stoke City
Toronto FC - Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors
Colorado Rapids - Arsenal, St. Louis Rams, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche
FC Dallas - Kansas City Chiefs
LA Galaxy - Los Angeles Kings, 27% of Los Angeles Lakers
Los Angeles FC - several owners involved in the Los Angeles Dodgers and Golden State Warriors
San Jose Earthquakes - Oakland Athletics
Seattle Sounders FC - Seattle Seahawks

These owners can dish out $$$ as they please. In some cases, they do, in others they don't. The main thing holding back the more ambitious owners is a salary cap between 3 and 4 million... in other words, Kane & Toews make as much as 5-to-7 cap-limited MLS teams combined. Three players that only count a small portion of their salary against the cap (Designated Players) per team can make as much as they will shell out... leading to teams like Toronto having $21 million payrolls, still far lower than any other major league (except the CFL). Therefore, teams have players making 7 mill in just salary and others making $50K... the big names can come, but it is hard to stack them.

Regardless, MLS has some huge names: Kaka, Lampard, Gerrard, Villa, Bradley, Altidore, Dempsey

Ronaldo is banging AAA+ rated European pussy on a regular basis. Why would he give that up to bang all the fat ass, twinkie loving feminists in 'Murica?

So Champions' is the premier League in Europa? I've always been curious about that.

We have a Champions League here too, just not the champions league.

Basically, the best of the best from the best Euro countries all qualify for the tournament and go for the the ultimate glory of the continental championship... while still playing in their own leagues as well.
