Crawford just went down against Florida.... needed help to get to his feet and to get off the ice.

Looked like he may have tweaked or torn his groin to me, but thats just a guess.

We will get the detailed "Its a lower body injury" in a few days I am sure.

I tuned in late to hear that and got worried. Didn't see play, did it look bad?

It looked bad to me.... kinda like when Cutler messed his groin up against Washington.... didn't look like much but based on the pain level it had to be a serious muscle pull or a tear.

He was down sliding left to right and he tried to kick his right leg out to cover against the right post and he seemed to hurt something, then when he tried to keep going and get over and up in to position he could not, he just collapsed back down to his knees and couldn't come off of them until he got help.

I am guessing it was a pulled groin at best, torn at worst.... he may need to talk to Cutty lol

Damn, hope it's the best care scenario, whatever that exactly is lol.

Raanta came in stopped 29 of 31 as the Blackhawks won easily 6-2. Looks like Raanta will be our guy for a good while.

PK stopped all 5

PP was 3 for 4

So pretty good for the special teams

Bouilin wall is made of garbage.... unfortunately that garbage is discarded tissue/wrapping paper from the last holiday season :D

Have they said whether Crawford had an upper or lower body injury yet? Or has Q offered one of his time tables like "It'll be a while" or "He'll miss some time"? :D

Beating a dead horse here, but had the Hawks signed Thomas Greiss, we wouldn't have this problem.

Oh, you mean the guy whose numbers are pretty much the same as Raanta's?

Greiss: 7 GP, ,918 SV% and 2.42 GAA (http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/g/greisth01.html)
Raanta: 5 GP, .922 SV% and 2.16 GAA (http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/r/raantan01.html)

What's the difference? Raanta was obviously brought in as the team's goalie of the future, it just appears that his first major NHL playing time came a lot sooner than we all expected.

Anyone still available is probably no better than the Hawks current options. There's a reason those guys are still FAs.

Calm down, we don't even know if Crawford has an upper or lower body injury or a frustratingly vague time table... until we have those useless pieces of information we cannot say how big of a problem this is....

I don't think those answers are going to get much clearer, honestly. The only way we'll have an idea of how serious the injury is will be whether or not Crawford goes on IR.

How do you know they could have signed him? I mean, you can say this for about every team and tons of players then. Sure there are upgrades out there, but who really knows unless you are part of Hawks management? Hell, apparently the Blackhawks offered Emery more money to stay in Chicago but he chose to go elsewhere. It happens. This is the real world, it isn't NHL 2014 for xbox.

I don't know much about the Flyers goalie situation in the minors, but Emery went to Philly to be a starter and, judging from the fact the he's played just 10 games to Mason's 21, it appears that didn't happen. I wonder if a phone call went from Chicago to Philly in the last 12-18 hours.

Exactly. Emery wanted to be a starter and that isn't the current case. I have to believe that the Flyers plan on keeping him because, while Mason has been solid thus far, he still doesn't have that track record in the recent years to make them feel good enough.

At the end of the day, some players aren't going to want to play for the Blackhawks. Some want to play out West, some out East, some for a small market, etc. Saying that the Blackhawks should have signed someone really means nothing at the end of the day because very few people know the true intentions of the player and a lot more goes into it than just money (most of the time).

Blackhawks have their backs up against the wall with the salary cap, so it should be interesting to see what happens if Crawford is out for a while (IR?), but not long enough for LTIR. Hopefully it was something minor, but I'm sure we will learn more by tomorrow.

Not a free agent, but depending on how serious the injury is, I'd be calling about Tim Thomas.

I would pass on Emery. He is a byproduct of the defense in front of him. He had horrible numbers the first month or so in Philly when he had a great shot at earning that top spot in Philly.

To say Mason doesn't have a track record of success I recent years is over praising him. He had a good rookie year and nothing but disappointment since.

Philly would be extra foolish to trade Emery off.

Agreed. After as lousy as they've been most of the season, they're actually in a playoff race in that horseshit division.
