While I agree that GAA is mostly a team stat...when a goalie puts up a .948% then the GAA average probably has a lot to do with his save percentage as well. A .948% is phenomenal. Had Crawford put up simply a good/solid save percentage like a .915% and had the same GAA over the three games, then I think that is when you really would credit the defense in a big way. Regardless, the defense and goaltending has played very well over the last 3 games, minus the first period at the Blues.
GAA isn't a full team statistic though. If a team puts up 40 shots in a game and the goalie only gives up 1 goal, he is going to have an amazing save percentage and a GAA of 1...even though 40 shots would seem to indicate that the team in front was letting him get shelled.
