What if god exists? Not the traditional idea of god (i.e. some dude up in heaven). But what is god was just another name for the ball of pure energy that the universe was created out of.

Borrowing from the Christian ideas that God has no beginning and no end - We don't know anything about that ball of energy except that we are pretty sure existed before the universe. The universe may or may not have an end, the scientists can't agree on that one.

The world and the heavens were created in six days - The universe was lightyears big within six days after the big bang.

God is all around us - Everything in the universe (including us) came from that big bang so in there "god" is all around us.

In my defense this hit me at 2 in the morning as I was watching a documentary about the beginning of the universe.

Do you mean pantheism? A very old and not radical theory/belief system that states that God is in everything? *YAWN* Wake me when there's really something new in the world of religion, spirituality and God.

You can still win the Nobel. Just prove this theory using science and then you're in!

Religion is a bit like the women I meet: Everything that can be done or said (in this case, to them) already HAS been said or done.

Ricky Gervais is awesome at this. I follow him on twitter and suggest you do the same.

"When someone asks why I am an atheist, I point out they are atheists too. When they say no, I believe in God, I ask all 3,000 of them? When they laugh and say no, the Christian God, then I ask well, what about the other 2,999?"--paraphrased

It makes sense when Obi Wan explains it.

Then George Lucas went crazy.

Then it no longer fits the traditional definition of God and therefore isn't, its the ball of energy the universe is made up of.

But a general theme across deities is being a creator and that ball of energy is our creator

then anything that creates anything is a God, that definition is too generic. Anyone by that definition with a child is a God. (usually) they make the conscious decision to create their children or not to.

Anyway if our scientific theories are to be trusted, nothing was created....merely changed.
