I was about 10K in credit card debt at one time a few years back. My wife had lost her job and we were literally using our credit card to make our mortgage payments. We ended up getting a personal loan through Discover and paid off all our debt minus our house. Now that loan is paid off and we pay our CC balances off every month.
Our credit score is somewhere around 790 so we get awesome interest rates when we do need a loan.

File for bankrupcy. I did back in 2009 (ch 13) and am free now. You might qualify for chapter 7 though. That would be better.
