Its all revisionist history.

No team was taking anyone other than Caleb Williams at 1.1

The better history review is why did certain teams like Trubisky/Watson over Mahomes when none were considered slam dunk 1st pick in the draft type qb's.

So if Ben Johnson is the coach we all hope he can be and Caleb Williams turns into the player we all hope he can be and the Bears are competing for and possibly winning Super Bowls who cares how good Daniels does.

That ones pretty easy, if you watch mahomes tape he was making a lot of stupid decisions and throws in college. The arm talent was clear, but he also came from an air raid scheme which was known for having great NCAA talent and giant failures in the pro level.

Basically was just dumb GM Group think based on prior decades of history. A couple teams with coaches who know QB talent(Saints,Chiefs, etc) saw him and figured it was worth trying to coach all the bad out of him as the level of arm talent was exceptional.

This also led to busts(Like Trey Lance and Zach Wilson) because then GM's figured it was worth taking risks for the "next mahomes"

The real headscratcher was mitch over watson, as watson was a proven top QB for multiple years at the highest level of NCAA football.

Maybe Ryan Pace knew something we all didn't.

I remember several years ago a set of QBs were taken 1st and 2nd. The 2nd pick set several rookies records. People were saying how the team that pick 1st messed up. That 2nd overall pick.... Rick Mirer ... that 1st pick Payton Manning

I MEANT DREW BLEDSOE NOT MANNING. Leaving mistake up so CCS can laugh at me.

Moral of the story.. Time will tell

You mean Ryan Leaf? He sucked ass and didn’t set rookie records… out of the league in 3 years.

Glass half empty: Daniels breaks in two and has CTE in his first year of the nfl playing behind that bears oline

It's terrible but I had a thought multiple times this past season when Caleb took a few hits where you could point to as CTE type hits. If he didn't have it before (I assume every college football player will develop it if they live long enough), he will now. Still cannot believe the offensive line they put in front of him and called it good.

Caleb is actually pretty filled out for a QB, he's only 6'1 but plays at about 215-220.

Daniels is probably the skinniest QB in the entire NFL. He's 6'4 and plays at like 205. Every time i see a closeup of his arms its like freaking toothpicks

I'm curious to see if the cummanders will alter his play style next year, because with his body type it may not be sustainable to be running the ball that much. He also has a nice arm already, so there is no real reason to be running him that much since he's far more developed as a passer than hurts/lamar were at this point of their careers.
