Crushed dreams

At what point did you realize your dream was unreachable? When the driving force behind your behavior, actions, and decisions becomes an unfathomable, impossible goal?

I'm not talking about silly childhood dreams. When I was 3 I wanted to grow up to be a giraffe. For one reason or another, that didn't work out. But I'm talking about REAL IRL dreams here.

Mine was crushed today. In fact, someone on this board helped me realize my dream will never come to fruition. I don't want to get into specifics or out the person that has devastated my being, but I would like to hear stories of your guys' crushed dreams.
