You were correct, that's everyone but Garza.

I think they settle around $8.75MM.

There is no risk of the Cubs losing Garza in arbitration. The worst case scenario for the Cubs is that they go to arbitration and Garza wins his 10.5 million salary for next year.

I believe this puts the Cubs payroll around 90 MM. With Garza, we're looking at about 100.

thats a bad 100 million dollar team if that is right. yikes!

Oh yeah, they're gonna suck  It'll probably end up being above $100MM depending on whether they ultimately trade Garza.

Just glad we cut so much payroll.

Who said a big name free agent would definitely come here? :troll:

You think the Cubs will eat all ~$54M left for 3 years; right now

I don't see it happening, but :dunno:

I could see them eating 40 MM this year. Making the other team on the tab for 14 MM. That seems about fair. I think we could afford an extra 21 MM this year. Then we'd have ALL the bad contracts off the books next year.

I think the Cubs can just ride Soriano out, and see if anyone bites this summer. If not, I can definitely see a deal getting done next winter.

Our future is looking fantastic right now, I couldn't be happier. It'll be interesting to see what kind of tactics we utilize in the draft. We're going to have the 6th pick and the 42nd pick since the Brewers signed Ramirez. I'd love to see us go after a catcher and third baseman with our first two picks. Mike Zunino from Florida and Rio Ruiz from Bishop Memorial High in California would be awesome.

Yeah that seems about right to me. You look at who we have and then you look at the payroll and it makes you sick. We really did/do have some awful contracts. It's gonna be so nice once we're finally rid of them.
