But Fisch, there really isn't anything else to care about until August given the way the Hawks are playing right now. After Saturday, there really might not be anything else to care about until then.

I'll watch NBA playoffs over this sorry team right now.

There's an amusing irony in Fisch not caring about the Cubs so much that he creates a thread and poll that emphasizes the extent of his non-caring :D

Tailspin is in full effect. Amazing how similar this year is going to 2012.

You really expected any different?

Just feel bad for the guys like Rizzo and Castro at this point. They still have to play through this muck of a season.

This will start a pointless argument, but yes. The reason the team was so horrific last year was because of the crap that they were trotting out on the mound for most of the season. Justin Germano, Justin Berken, Chris Rusin, Brooks Raley, Chris Volstad and Randy Wells accounted for more starts than Matt Garza, Ryan Dempster and Paul Maholm combined. Basically a quarter of the season last year the Cubs had no chance before the game started because their starting pitchers weren't going to give them a chance. I figure the offense didn't improve, but with an actual rotation I thought they would be better. This roster definitively has more talent than the team that ended last year and probably more than the team that started the year in 2012 as well.

Fair enough. It seems like the Cubs can put a 4 run outing together, and then give up 7, or else hold the other team to 3, but can't muster one.

It'd be nice if both the offense and pitching were on at the same time.

But that is different than last year. Last year's team was terrible at both pitching and offense. This year it is really just one, and even then the offense is still better than last year's as well. They are scoring more runs per game than last year's team, and this team is actually above average in the power department. Unfortunately this team still sucks at getting on base andd gives away too many at bats.

Since Ricketts has purchased the team it has stalled in below average mediocraty.

There has been very little progress going forward, if any at all, other than time simply passing by.

They will be stuck in this tailspin until they sign some players that can get them out of this rut along with something magical happening at the draft table and farm levels.

The team is currently disgusting to watch most days.

Back to back 2 out RBI hits. 2-0. Hopefully Wood can keep the Cubs in this one long enough that the blowpen can't ruin. Hopefully we don't even see them.
